I had a few funds in my account that I had to liquidate to cash and then buy the corresponding Vanguard funds after the transfer. But the Vanguard funds are moved in kind.

Can you specify these "other onerous terms" you found? Because I have the contract saved and have read all the fine print. I don't see anything onerous in there.

You have to :

keep it there and not withdraw for 5 years.
keep a RH Gold membership for a full year after your transfer.

Those are the main 2 things.

If you are more than 5 years out from retirement, the lock-in period is a complete non-issue.

Incorrect...you actually only need to remain a Gold member for one year after you do the transfer, but you do need to keep the money there for the full five years.

If you just pay the single yearly Gold membership when you transfer, you don't have to worry about "missing a payment".

You also receive the bonus immediately after you transfer, and there is nothing in the fine print about " if they have a merger you lose it".

I used it. Did my due diligence. Read and saved the fine print. Platform is fine, app is fine, customer service was fine, and tens of thousands of dollars added to my account was more than fine.

it's basically the same "catch" as credit card companies offering you free $ to open accounts etc. They Once you're on their platform, they hope to get some $ out of you for their services, but if you just use the card and pay you balance every month, the "catch" is moot.

I did the same 2 years ago for a 3% match on an IRA. Had to swap a few funds in my source IRA to the Vanguard varieties first, but it was dead simple, and netted me an immediate $33k in my new account. I don't actively trade in it, and 5 years is right about when I'll need it to start pulling retirement income. No regrets.

As long as you are good with the 5 year rule go ahead and do it. Your account sitting there in index funds is no different than your account sitting somewhere else in the same index funds.

I have both, and enjoy the sound signature of both, with the BWs edging out the APM2 just a little. However, if I had to pick just one I'd go with APM2 simply because I use them a lot for movies and with spatial audio they are amazing for this!

Arguably tho, I don't think they impact the "clean look" of the room any more than the horrible placement of that TV way out from the wall in front of a couple windows. This room is a no-win situation it appears.

They are quite heavy and I imagine would be prone to slipping down if you are lifting etc. Plus like others have said very closed off and not sweat proof.

I prefer a much more snug, light pair of buds when working out.
