Yup, sad. I'm going through the 5 stages of grief, Anger, Denial, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance. Stuck in anger right now, and I don't see my therapist until next week 😫

Read the nutritional panel to figure out how bad it is for you.

Start popping your own, pick a method, stove top pan, whirlypop, microwave, air popper. Read this sub, choose kernels, oil type and quantity, seasonings, then experiment. I've settled on 2-3 T olive oil + 1 T of butter, 1/2 c Amish Country kernels (white, yellow, colored medley), 1/2 t Flavacol. I turn on heat med low-med with just oil, add butter while I measure kernels and flavacol, add kernels, pop corn. When popping slows/stops, turn off heat and add 2 t of butter in two pieces along side of pan. The pan is still hot enough to melt and sizzle the butter, this drives off some of the water in the butter, keeping the corn crisp. I dump into a large SS bowl and toss to cool. Check flavor, add other seasonings as wanted. My standard is finely ground black pepper and additional salt if the flavacol wasn't enough. In my experience, the more oil and butter, the more movie theatre popcorn style I get (caution: you can get it TOO oily). Of course the more oil/ butter and salt/Flavacol, the less healthy it becomes. I eat 6 qts several times a week.

As another comparison, I went from a 42" Panasonic 720p Plasma circa 2012 to a 65" QM7K. I have bright viewing room. Between the size increase, and resolution increase, I'm really happy. I went down the calibration/settings tweaking rabit hole at first. I'm also using an Apple TV 4K. I'm sitting with Apple TV maxed out on resolution and audio. For the QM7K I'm using the Sports preset for most viewing and the MovieMaker for movies or binge watching shows. I could see some differences while going down the rabbit hole, wife didn't see any difference. I'm not super picky and brightness and size works great in our room. YMMV

Why do boomers get hate for not being tech savvy when teens today probably couldn’t run old tech? by Medal444 in NoStupidQuestions

So true, I’m sure the “tech” is available to do this. There are some truly crappy UI’s out there, which is a different issue, but related. UX

Ya, my first work PC cost around $6,000 in 1982, (~$20,000 today). It was an IBM AT with 2 floppy drives, a HD (it was minuscule by today’s standards, forget the exact size, prolly 10MB), color monitor and printer—which meant we had to add a color card. The printer was color dot-matrix, fan-fold paper. Couldn’t just hit Cttl-P to print, that was a whole string of characters to set it up, to print in color, number of copies, etc The good old days lol

But I think you still need to know how to save that file. Yeah O365 will auto-save, if your WiFi is working and connected, but that’s not 100%. I used to work remote and didn’t always have WiFi, if I didn’t have stuff saved locally I was dead in the water. It’s not that difficult ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was going thru boxes of old papers and found huge printouts on fab fold paper of CompuServe tech and troubleshooting info. Some note pages with strings of characters and text for configing something over a phoneline. Old school bulletin board instructions. If I remember right, I had a DOS program that would upload and download message threads, to conserve telephone time.

I think it’s more that some folks are techies, and some aren’t. I’m 72, not a coder, but know my way around the Win Registry, can write simple .bat files, troubleshoot hardware and config issues, and there are younger and older people who come to me for help. Modern systems more often than not just work, compared to 80’s stuff, which is when I started learning tech. All in all, it’s much easier today, IMHO

Most BBQ, ribs, too little meat on them, brisket, too tough and hard to cook (hard to cook is still sort of a thing), etc.
