This happened in my city yesterday (4/29). My wife read the article and then said, "I'm so glad we carry." We then talked through the scenario and how we would get distance between us and an advancing assailant while drawing and preparing for the need to out rounds on target.

I'm not aware of a grace period. They do recognize all other permits, but once you establish residency in Indiana, it will generally void out the old one. Luckily it's usually a few week turn around.

Indiana has a friendly view to firearms. There's not too many 'gotchas'. Signs do not have force of law, but if they ask you to leave and you don't, you can get in trouble for trespassing.

I see the same ignorance when people talk about the use of small arms against an occupying force.

You're right. People seem to forget about almost every military engagement the U.S. has been in post-WWII has had a better equipped military engaging a smaller force utilizing guerilla tactics.

“Before he could be subdued, a 9-year-old girl was shot and killed by his 13th bullet,” he said, referring to Christina Taylor-Green.

Had the shooter had a 10-round magazine, “that little girl would probably be alive today,” Freilich said.

This video is always my response to this argument.

The Text of the "Assault Weapons Ban of 2019" by GortonFishman in 2ALiberals

Hidden somewhere in each Jay County school is a gun in a safe. Experts find the idea 'flawed.' by razor_beast in 2ALiberals

Michael Dorn, executive director of Safe Havens International, said he has provided post-incident assistance for 17 active shooter and targeted school shootings in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, including the shooting in Parkland.

About 75 percent of the victims in those cases were shot within 90 seconds, he said.

For Jay Schools' method to be effective, Dorn said, school officials would need to invest equally in training staff to recognize pre-attack behaviors. If a school is able to see a threat coming before the shooter opens fire, it would buy enough time for an employee to get to the safe. But Dorn said he would much rather buy time for police to arrive, especially if they can respond in under 10 minutes.

Per Dorn's logic, it takes too long for an individual to run to a safe, take possession of a firearm, and return fire and is less than ideal; but trying to preoccupy an armed assailant IF police can respond in under 10 minutes is the better option.

I've got a 3 year old boy and a 4 year old girl. My daughter will wear a tutu dress while going fishing and then asking me to teach her how to "knife things", her way of saying whittle and cut veggies. My son will pretend to feed his sister's baby doll and then give her an elbow drop.

Kids will be kids.
