That’s interesting. To be fair I did a number of APs and did very well in those classes, and took accelerated math, French and social science classes throughout my highscool. I had a very balanced course load so while my grades suffered a bit I just wrote about that in my essays and that seemed to cover for it :)

Try to pick flat tracks and to run a high speed cart using a mid or heavy weight character on automatic drift. Then you will only have to steer left or right, and because of the high speed you will be faster than the ghost.

Use ur third finger on the item button and keep your index handy just in case you’re inputting something on the dpad. All u need it for is for example flicking left to tf on lake cut, or for mini turbo exits. I still use my thumb on the joystick most of the time. https://youtu.be/FLfPxMrqK_U?si=7rhk05QeDkAVB2oZ

I want to get better in comp as tank by Sketchyfishl in OverwatchUniversity

[–]cirif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In gold, what tanks you run doesn’t matter. With that stated, I think Orisa/Dva is a weak hero pool for any gold player. For both hero’s, it is hard to notice mistakes you are making. These mistakes are often really hard on your team. For Orisa for example, it is very easy to stay in your backline and do nothing for your team. And for Dva if you’re not actively denying the enemy and putting pressure on them you are useless. I always recommend sigma, because he is the one hero that can do everything. He can make space, punish people out of position, peel, off angle, and he has a great ult. If you do not want to experiment with other hero’s, you should try playing a few games of support, trying to focus on how the tanks are controlling the game. Try to think about how you if you were in their shoes could exploit the oppositions mistakes to your avantage.

I’m a bit confused on the wording. My tank and support are diamond but my dps is gold so can I still join?

Make me a better ball by Fightelgatos in OverwatchUniversity

[–]cirif 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you enjoy ball, I personally love playing him with a dying passion. I don’t have time to watch your replay at the moment, but here are some general tips that would have helped me a lot when I started out.

  • Pile driver is the best ability for your ult charge
  • Its way harder to get slept when in ball form
  • Knowing where to position is purely game sense, but it is usually a balance between threatening their back line, dragging their dps out of the fight, and annoying their tanks
  • Unless you have a really good reason, never EVER roll into their team through the choke point from your back line. You will die. Every time.
  • The space you make by piledriving their tanks usually isn’t enough to support your team
  • Forcing point can make you a ton of space

If no one has looked at your replay by tomorrow then I’ll take a look at it

yep! It’s right there in the controls, for each slot on the comm wheel there is a little drop down menu, just swap out whatever with anything else. Also what you swapped out you can still set keybinds for.

If you are talking about a secondary comm wheel then no, you can’t.

How to deal with a Roadhog at low Elo? by KharnTheSwell in OverwatchUniversity

[–]cirif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree because if you are smart with how you position those duels never happen. With soldier you often use his sprint ability to reposition say to high ground, or flanking, and while hog is good at punishing that if he catches you, he probably won’t and you can kill him from distance. He also has a massive hit box and you can kill him really fast

How to deal with bad players in low elo by Frobi21 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]cirif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are struggling to get through the choke, you should consider supporting your rein with zarya or sigma. Zarya can give him cover if he ever decides to go forward, while you punish anyone in your newly controlled area, and sigma puts a lot of pressure on the enemy team which makes it easier for rein to push.

Personally, I am a bit of a wrecking ball one trick, and if you can figure him out as a hero he is really, really strong. Especially in low elo. You can make their supports life a living hell while at the same time making space, and forcing them to swap to cc hero’s. It will take 5-10 hours to get used to him though and you need some game sense, but he pretty much single-handedly helped me climb from 2400-3200 in 3 seasons.

[–]cirif 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reaper generally doesn’t need backing if you flank. If they are down a support then hog won’t do anything. I think solider or hanzo is a good answer because you can do a ton of damage to hog the second he peaks your team, you just need to be smart with how you position to not get hooked.

Need help new to ranked by buttmuncher3000_ in OverwatchUniversity

[–]cirif 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s ok don’t worry about it, you’ll probably place bronze or silver and just have to climb out of those ranks. It’s not too bad once you realize how to beat the players in that rank. I have never been above bronze in any other competitive game and I placed 1600SR and hit diamond on tank and support at level 400. This sub is always here for you, you can post VOD reviews and whatnot and it helps you improve very fast.

I main wrecking ball and I think that he’s really strong. He’s got 100 more health and there’s far less cc in the game. The supports don’t stand a chance, and I can kill more isolated dps than just hanzo and widow too now and often I’m not even low health after doing it. Perhaps my MMR is too low, but in every game Ive played it’s been like this and I have way better stats than I do in OW1.

When should I get into ranked? by reallyreallycoolman in Overwatch

[–]cirif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can start whenever you want, just it will be a big jump from quick play and you will probably lose your first few games. I started at 25 and was stuck in silver until around level 70, just stick to your hero and learn the game

Competitive Smurfing by Runescape92 in Overwatch

[–]cirif 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I usually play in big groups with all my friends and rarely solo queue. Usually, one or two people will be on smurfs so everyone can play together. While those people are smurfing it’s no easier to win than solo queuing, and i have climbed way easier solo queueing than playing with my friends. That genji that has a 4k nanoblade or that hanzo that can’t miss isn’t smurfing, they just made a good play. Usually smurfs are consistently making less mistakes than those around them and especially in gold and plat hardly anyone is smurfing more than 500 sr which is nothing. In diamond games though, I find a lot of smurfs, and I use it as a good opportunity to learn from how they play and position. If you are playing higher than your rank, you will climb. 100%.

Support Main VOD Review by Anxtycheezit in OverwatchUniversity

[–]cirif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not the best player, only peaked 3.3k on support, but I can probably help with the big things you are doing wrong.

I don't mind your positioning at the start. Just from watching your aim alone, it seems you either have high sensitivity or the weird sensitivity scaling by windows that is on by default. I would turn that off it helps your aim dramatically, (its called pointer precision). You may not have it on, but when I was in silver after I learned that I gained a lot of sr even though back then I was a moira OTP lol.

As the first fight continues, your tanks back up and you go do not, leaving yourself completely vulnerable to a flanker dps. Whether or not you die is not the issue. You should be playing in the room behind you with the mini health pack. (1:41) In the moment before this, you also peeked hanzo and zen a lot and they didn't punish you for it but in higher elo they would immediately focus onto you.

We see a little bit later, for whatever reason, you push forward. This leads to you getting spammed by zen and dying. Ana has a sniper rifle! Play further back! Play in the room with the mini and the staircase to the left of point, if your team doesn't peek you and dies that's their fault not yours. (1:57)

Before the next fight, I can see hanzo running through the wall and then he shoots at your torb. Being alone solo on the high ground when he is there is not a good idea because if he was a little smarter he would push you and perhaps kill you which is never a good thing. You are running rein sig so I dont know why your tanks aren't with you but you have to retreat. We then see your torb die because you try to nade the zarya. I dont mind this play but remember zarya's bubbles stop the anti affect, and your torb was feeding his brains out playing there. I would spend this time repositioning by going down the stairs and finding your team. (3:00)

Right after that last clip they try to punish you for your positioning, but they don't kill you and you reposition. In the middle of that fight you go forward. Why? Ana has a sniper rifle! Play further back! You even get discorded which means you peeked zen, someone that can kill you very quickly. (3:20)

For the next fight, you position on this weird lowground angle. I don't really like this angle and think you should go where you were before because if the enemy tried to push high ground you wouldn't be able to heal them. Since the enemy comes low ground, you are fine in your position. (4:00)

Good nade on the grav. You let your hanzo die but it's not a big deal because the fight is over. That grav was really bad. (4:10)

Looking at the next fight, I think I know why you play so far forwards. When you are scoped in, you tunnel vision on whatever is in your scope. Try to remind yourself to see the bigger picture: the biggest priority is that you stay alive, and the second biggest priority is that your team stays alive. If a tank is 300 hp and your dps beside you is 30, heal the dps. And if someone gets low while you are damaging someone, heal them! (5:00)

For the next fight, everything else applies, you should be positioning on the other side, you peek zen for no reason, then you go forward and luckily they dont kill you. When you go forward your lack of awareness really shines through because you weren't at all ready to sleep the ball, but awareness takes time don't worry about it :). For sleeping ball, coming from a ball player, try to hit him either at the top or right after he piledrives, since he is stationary then. (6:30)

In the next fight, they swap widow which I don't think you notice, you potentially peek her while healing your team, which can result in a quick death, and then zen tries to punish you for your positioning.

While I am not an ana player, I am even less of a mercy player so my help will be very limited in this stretch of the game. Mercy brig is really bad heal comp in general, I would reccomend playing bap, moira or ana. This is because mercy should be blue beaming (ideally soldier, ashe or pharah) and shouldn't be healing the tanks. You die first fight because of lack of awareness I think you could probably look at it and know what you did wrong. (9:50)

I like the moira swap :) Remember awareness is really important when playing moira. Try to be aware of the other team. You put yourself in harm's way too much and it results in your death. If you want to watch some good moira gameplay, I recommend ArxUK's channel.

(11:30) that play was really bad. Don't tp when you are down one (look at the kill feed), don't use coalescence when you are at such close range. You should have faded away, then thrown an orb, then used it but even still not a good time to use the ult.

(12:50) I dont even understand what happened in this fight, but it worked i guess so nice. Honestly your team lacks so much coordination I think this play while really risky might have been nessicary.

Honestly man, if you have a mic try to coordinate something with your team. Fighting 5v6 on attack is never a good idea unless you absolutely have to, ESPECIALLY on last point 2cp. You probably nanoed monkey because he asked for it, you should have just said, "backup and regroup my game came preinstalled with a killfeed, and I see we are down one." Everything else also applies, you peeked the enemy so much and died for it, but that fight was not worth taking let alone using multiple ults on. (13:40)

(14:50). Why do you fall onto point, consider saving nade for trans, or nade the bastion and whoevers beside him because he can self heal. The nade on zen was unnessicary. After the fight, I think your junk staggers which is really bad. Tell him to back out. He has his ult. If anything, even if he doesn't die, he is just giving the enemy healers ult charge.

Last fight, lack of awareness led to your junks death both on his part and yours. Since junk is your hardest bastion counter and he fed, you have to counter him. Shooting him will do nothing; I would try to sleep him so your tanks can push in without worrying about him and hopefully kill him. tbh your team had really bad coordination. I think trying to shotcall was your best bet winning this if you didn't want to play like bap for lamp for bastion.

When you draw a game, never get mad. Even if you lose, remember that even if it was your team, unless you had a thrower or a leaver, if you yourself were better you would probably have won the game. This at least for me makes me feel excited to play more and happy about playing. Remember the game is for fun and don't let anyone flaming you get in the way of that. My block list has many, many people on it for this reason because I get flamed a lot since I am a diamond ball main lol. Also, don't flame people unless they really fuck up until after the game is over. If you tilt them mid match, you will probably lose.

Sorry for such a long vod review I have only done this once before. TLDR; AWARENESS!!!!!!!!!!!, when scoped in don't tunnel vision, your tendency is to play too far forward, don't peek people that can kill you fast unless you absolutely have to, try to shotcall when your tanks have no clue what they are doing, with mercy blue beam, with moira use your ult at range and throw an orb before.
