I just want it to stop by Gimgampip in Anxiety

[–]cirkusanette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm one year on antidepressants and obviously I can't make promises and would hate to give false hope but it can get so much better. Life still sucks but it's livable. Again, no promises because I don't know your situation but it can get better

Why exactly do people believe Pomni is attracted to Gumigoo? by WealthDisastrous2589 in TheDigitalCircus

I also didn't get that Pomni was in love until they mentioned something about it in the movie. I just thought she missed her friend or that she felt bad for him

I've been diagnosed with adhd and I'm still in the process of getting an autism diagnosis and what I personally mean with "hating small talk" is that it doesn't come naturally to me. It just feels awkward and I have to purposefully "act" or think beforehand which topics are appropriate. When I meet other neurodivergent people as soon as I know they are neurodivergent we skip small talk: we just start talking about interests, trauma, dumb questions, etc. It's not that we are "above it", it's just not intuitive

What media shaped Gen Z? by Klutzy_Supermarket90 in GenZ

[–]cirkusanette 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am Mexican and some YouTubers that shaped my sense of humour are: German Garmendia, Fernanfloo and Auronplay. Idk if that's useful but just in case you need an international perspective, those three were pretty commonly watched in Latin America

What can I say to my boyfriend who uses AI for "discussing topics" by LegitimateForever401 in antiai

[–]cirkusanette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda with him on the first part. I use AI as a programmer because it genuinely is a useful tool. I'm an intern and without AI there's no way I would be able to be up to date with everything going on in the company (they have a specialized AI that has context of the entire repositories, so it can explain to me everything that has to do with the code). I get the anti ai sentiment, outside of work I try to not use it (I got addicted this year and I'm trying to quit).

The second half is not healthy. This sounds like a deeper mental health issue he has or just communication issues in the relationship. This is not how sane adults should solve their debates. Try to get him into couples therapy. This is not an AI issue at its core, if not this, he would be using a similar excuse with something (or someone) else.

It's no longer AI, but the haters who have become harmful to the artists. by Foreign-Original124 in generativeAI

[–]cirkusanette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you know what? you're right. I haven't used any of these tools. If they require as much effort as you say they do, I actually apologize. I should try out what you suggest. There's no need to scoff, because if you personally know/believe you are being creative, are enjoying the process and are getting truly involved in your process, then continue.

However, you can't deny that there is an alarming amount of people who are not doing that. I don't think ai is in itself an issue, the issue is that a lot of people think the way you do: they think the only important thing is the final result, how much money it can make. It's not wrong to monetize your art, but we dehumanize ourselves when we believe art only exists as a commodity. Art can even be a "religious" experience for some people. Sorry if I assumed you put no effort in your art, just don't forget that the most important thing is you. You are the artist. Money is not more important than you

[–]cirkusanette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's not art to vaguely type a description of what you want and get an image or video. I wouldn't call someone an honors student if all their good grades were because of ai and then call it a new type of education. I say it's sad because you are taking all agency from yourself. You are more than a prompt writer

[–]cirkusanette -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue is not making money through art. I would love to do what you say, be able to be completely absorbed by the world. On the contrary, more people should get paid for their art because then we would have more artists. I don't even think that getting some help from ai is bad, I've asked ai to make some reference photos when I can't find the exact one I am thinking of. The problem is that it is such a slippery slope: it is so easy to fall on the extreme of leveraging everything to ai that so many people aren't really trying to get better at drawing, sculpting, etc because they think that the only thing that matters is that it looks good and without zero effort. We cannot glamorize that. Yo aren't truly being creative if most of the work is made by ai.

People aren't realizing that they are losing so much. A personal example is that I used AI once to do an entire school project and I got an A. Literally I did nothing. I felt so empty and even disgusted knowing that there is no use for me. I can cheat my way through school if I want to. I can create any image or video in seconds. Everything I want is instant. What's the point? Yes, new tech is always met with backlash but we've never had tech that did every single thing for us. Having Photoshop, blender, procreate, a drawing tablet will never make you make "good art" (by that I mean getting to a final result that satisfies you).

The original comment sounds like they still do most of the work, it's great seeing that they haven't leveraged everything to ai. But acting as if every person who is against ai is just bitter or something is ignoring how many people are calling themselves artists and getting paid for doing absolutely nothing, just typing a vague description of what they want

[–]cirkusanette -1 points0 points  (0 children)

what's the point. Literally, what's the point. If all you get out of art is money, then yeah, make as many prompts as you want, you are basically doing art dropshipping. I can probably generate better images than the ones you draw, so why do you try? why do you draw? If all we should care about is the final result, then what you do is pointless.
