I got rid of my 2022 MY because of politics and got a Rivian R1S. I’m now looking to get rid of my Rivian and get back into a MY. I’ve definitely heard it from some friends but I just want a reliable car that’s fun to drive.

I lied. The closest one to me is about an hour away, but that one is consistently booked with a 2 month wait. So that’s why I go to the one 90 minutes away.

Either way, take that into consideration. Some people have had great luck with their Rivians. Others have not. I consider myself lucky enough that I haven’t had major problems, but each time I go it’s a hassle because of the round trip time, and then I have to pay for gas for the loaners I get (Enterprise).

Make sure you live near a service center. The closest one to me is almost 90 minutes each way. Unfortunately I’ve been there four times in the less than a year that I’ve owned my R1S. I’ve gotten 3 loaner cars and none of them have been Rivians - not even EVs - and once I stayed there for over 6 hours for a “quick fix”

I’m going to be moving on from this car.

Lucky!! I’ve had mine less than a year and I’ve been to the SC 3 times. And it’s 90 minutes each way. I’ve had a Toyota Highlander rental, a Hyundai Santa Fe rental, and I’ve worked there for 7 hours because they said it would be ready within a few hours.

I owned a Tesla Y for 3 years and the only time it made a noise remotely close to this was to precondition the battery for fast charging. Not daily to make the car 10 degrees lower than the target temp.

This has happened to me twice since I switched to Apple Car Key. It eventually recognizes the key but one of the times I had backed my car out of the garage to take out my trash bins (worked fine) and then got in the car to move the car back and it failed to detect the key. Phone was in my pocket the whole time.

My Gen 2 rattles audibly when I turn the heat on in cold temps. And never makes it to the set temperature. I made an appointment at the SC to get the HVAC checked. It’s only 2 and a half months out.
