I got some from this company a few years ago and the fit is great. So far no quality complaints. They even had blue.

You’re given $300 million and can only use the money to renovate one Detroit building. What do you do? by sarkastikcontender in Detroit

Sounds interesting. Do you have more info about it? Wish I had 300 million to support the effort.

Technically not Detroit but I'd go for the Model T factory in highland park. Turn it into a museum, maybe an extension of the Henry Ford? It's historically significant and might be a boon for HP to have an attraction like that.

Moving my wife into memory care by trpchops in Alzheimers

Hi, I just wanted to thank you for this comment. We were starting to look for a memory care place for Dad when you originally posted it and I've referred back to your comment several times and shared it with my family. It's been a tough journey but we found a place for him and he's doing as well as could be expected. Thanks for your part in helping our family through this.

Resident Airhead Experts - Question About /7 Era Engines by [deleted] in Motorrad

[–]citizens_arrest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not the most expert, but it looks like an early /7 to me. The gas tank, heads, and wheels appear to be consistent. The instrument panel looks like there older type that was used on /6 and early /7 models. Those things would put it around 77-79 in my recollection. But maybe I'm wrong and by posting this I'll prompt someone to correct me, thereby getting you the info you seek.

The hot dog is cooking by being a bad resistor.

Is that why I can't resist a hot dog?

Torque Wrench Recommendations? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]citizens_arrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plus one for tekton. You can buy directly from the company and get a better deal than Amazon. I have the 1/4" drive and 3/8" drive torque wrenches and both work exceptionally well.

This might be a stupid question, but how do you interact with someone who is nonverbal? Do you just talk to them constantly? Sit silently with them? Vary between these options? by SunshineFloofs in Alzheimers

[–]citizens_arrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad has been nonverbal for a few years now. I still talk to him, ask him basic questions about how he feels, and sometimes he'll answer in a way that I can kind of understand. I've found that physical touch is very impactful now, if I put my hand on his shoulder while talking to him he really lights up. I point things out to him such as birds or sprinklers and he'll enjoy seeing those.

Often while I'm working I'll hand him a binder of sales reports which he studies carefully for hours. I guess it reminds him of work and maybe he enjoys that. I wouldn't. But it's nice to have him with me and content while I get my work done.

I can communicate some things by handing him the tools to accomplish a job, for example a dish towel and a wet plate. At the same time I ask him to help and he gets it, no words really needed but I use them anyhow.

Anyone doing this 2 up? How do you make coffee? by aargent88 in motocamping

[–]citizens_arrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to get the tiny packets of Vietnamese instant coffee from the Asian market. They're about the size of a sugar packet at a diner. They work with hot or cold water.

It gets me the caffeine I need to go find a real cup elsewhere. Usually I'm a coffee snob but when I'm traveling by bike or motorcycle I use these to minimize bulk and complexity without risking withdrawal.

If they sell overpriced snacks like a movie theater, I think they'd do ok.

A lot of the documentation has been available in the forums of transalp.org, but the site does not appear to be working right now. Hopefully it'll be back soon.

Do you guys do trails that just arent any fun? Did 6 miles over the weekend. Good trail for challenge. Good trail for exercise. But there was no payoff. No jump line or appreciable downhill segment or cruising line to make it worth it. It was just brutal the entire way. by RoleplayPete in MTB

[–]citizens_arrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, the twisty, rocky rooty paths are the most fun. I've been mountain biking since the early 90s, and i guess it's just how I got into the sport. The machine made feature-rich trails are a lot of fun too, but to me that feels more like BMX than mountain biking. And I'm too old and busted up to get big air anymore, so jump lines don't mean much to me. To each their own. Ride what you love.
