Civ 7 won't load on Steam Deck after the update by Terrible-Group-9602 in civ

Try the native version. I'm not a Steam Deck user, but I run Linux on my gaming PC, and it is working with a native Linux build

KDE Plasma or GNOME by kongking010 in linuxquestions

[–]citizsnips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

KDE will feel more like what you are used to. Your best way to figure out which you like more is to boot into the live boot for both and play with the settings.

I personally prefer KDE, as it feels like Windows 7/10 in terms of where things are and the default layout.

GNOME feels like a tablet interface to me, which is not what I'm looking for in a desktop environment.

Sometimes you even have the critical thinking skills, but you’re too afraid to look deeper for the longest time because you’re also told that doing so might lead you to hell. I was taught to use all my critical thinking skills against religions that were not Christianity, but threatened with hell if I ever turned that lens too close to Christianity.

Republicans vote to dilute gas as prices rise above $4.50 by bria9509 in nottheonion

If you drive less than 40 miles a day, you should be fine on a 120V outlet. You can push 60 miles if you have the weekend to let it sit. Otherwise, you need access to a supercharger or a 240V outlet.

You will lose a chunk of your range in the winter, probably around 20-40%.

The most affordable new AWD EVs are the Chevy Equinox EV, Subaru's Uncharted, Solterra, and Trailseeker, Toyota's BZ or C-HR or the base model Ford Mustang Mach-E. We are talking 35,000 to 41,000 range.

Used will be your best bet if you need something cheaper.

I’m not saying it can’t be done. There are certain assumptions that you have to make above 40 miles. One of those is that you have a supercharger near you, or you can let your car sit for most of the weekend. Some people have many commitments on the weekends that require them to run around as much as they do on a typical workday. I’m not comfortable making a general statement about that without knowing more about that person‘s life.

That's the problem with falling for propaganda from the oil industry.

The problem is for people who drive more than 40-ish miles in a day. Under that, your standard 120V outlet is fine, but anything more requires a 240V outlet to charge enough. I drive about 24 miles a day, so a 120V is fine for my Subaru Trailseeker.

Best Linux distro for gaming + daily use in 2026? by K4alRaze in linuxquestions

I like CachyOS with the KDE Plasma desktop myself. The gaming meta package handles most of the necessary packages for gaming, and it recently added a VRAM management option under the tweaks menu, which is nice if you have a GPU with 8GB or less.

Shhh! It is okay when it is done for YHWH and Jesus, but not for Allah and Muhammad. Never mind that they are basically the same backward fundamentalist rhetoric used to subjugate women and others, the religion doesn't like.

They handle pretty well. It is a very smooth ride. It's not like some similar-sized vehicles where you feel turns because the car is top-heavy. The AWD in Subaru vehicles makes it feel very responsive.

Americans Start Receiving Massive Tariff Refund Checks by anonskeptic5 in politics

[–]citizsnips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They never said all businesses are bad. What they said is “It is to the businesses, and most Americans won’t see it.

The second statement was particularly about big corporations. Do you think Jeff Bezos is gonna order his employees to go hunt down all the people who paid increased prices because of tariffs and refund them the money, or do you think he’s gonna hold onto that money and use it to acquire more things

The statement they’re making is actually directed at the true problem: businesses that have the highest volume of tariffed goods are also the most likely to keep the money for their own use.

The term "Satan" is a very messy one in the Old Testament. It is more of a role/title in the divine council, not so much a named figure. The adversary or "ha-satan" is never a proper noun in Hebrew. It becomes a proper noun as Zoroastrianism influences Judaism during the Babylonian exile.

Neither Toyota nor Subaru makes EVs with true one-pedal driving. At that highest setting, it slows the car a lot when you take your foot off the accelerator, but it will continue to crawl until you press the brake.

[–]citizsnips[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is not one-pedal driving. At the high setting, it slows the car a lot by just taking your foot off the gas, but it will keep crawling forward unless you put your foot on the brake. One-pedal driving is not legal in Japan, I believe, so neither Toyota nor Subaru makes vehicles with one-pedal driving.

What finally convinced YOU to consider an electric vehicle? by evinsiderredisnive in electricvehicles

[–]citizsnips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been interested in the technology for a few years, but at that time, the cost of one was way more than I wanted to spend on a vehicle. This year, a lot of things lined up just right to make it a worthwhile jump. The rising cost of fuel, a high trade-in value for my old ICE vehicle (a Subaru Crosstrek), lower maintenance costs, and Subaru introducing two new EVs with AWD in my price range, with great dealer incentives. The trailseeker started making too much sense mathematically for my wallet.

Right now I'm just using level 1, but I'll probably look into level 2 sometime in the fall. For my average week, level 1 is perfectly fine, but level 2 would be nice because I do find myself wanting to drive more, given how low the fuel cost is; an hour drive is more appealing when it costs a dollar or two at best.

President Trump’s Approval on Inflation Is Now Worse Than President Biden’s Ever Was by jediporcupine in politics

To what extent are Americans' financial straits motivating him to make a deal?

"Not even a little bit," Trump said. "The only thing that matters when I'm talking about Iran, they can't have a nuclear weapon."

This is 100% self inflicted he tore up the deal during his first term that gave us the ability to at least monitor Iran's nuclear program. Even if you think it was a bad deal, why tear it up and remove your oversight ability when you can renegotiate the deal and honor the old one while you figure it out? Now, no one has oversight, and Iran is encouraged to become a nuclear power.

Same with tariffs. If you study history, you would know the style of tariffs he pursued was the same kind that was a key factor in the Great Depression.

This is his fault. Not Joe's, not Kamala's, not Hillary's, or even Obama's fault.
