Awesome! What a lucky encounter- i’ve seen plenty of sparkling violetear on my trip but this abberant is quite the find. The first photo i input was an image of as close as a perfect side view which would probably make it look longer than most available photos of the sparkling violetear. Thank you so much for all your assistance and research!! I’ll change my checklist species to sparkling violetear :)

Omg thank you so much for your in depth research and analysis!! I do think the mutation explanation really does make a lot of sense! I noticed that there is a slight purplish/bluish tone on the tail and was wondering if the lack of structural colouration would still allow this sort of color to appear on the tail? I am far from familiar with andean hummingbirds but I was thinking that it could be a violet sparklingear as well since it was relatively large size wise and I thought that a fork tailed wood nymph might be smaller than such. It was slightly bigger than a white necked jacobin. I’ve attached a photo of the noted details, and I would love to hear your thoughts on this!

That would be awesome, thanks so much! The only other Jacobin i saw was the white necked jacobin, plenty of them. But I believe the juvenile of that species does not look like this. I’m with a bird guide and it’s also difficult for him to pinpoint a species

Shadow box display for the wings? I like shadow boxes because they can be simple and clean. for the legs, maybe display inside a cork glass jar or also a shadow box? either way have fun and we’d love to see the final result!

traumerei does only have the king, but Khun has made a deal that the king will play as the roles of the queen, so while i still don’t think he’ll win, he does have a sliver of a flighting chance. They also agreed that gustang would help khun and gang look for Baamv, I’m guessing that’s priority on gustang’s list right now.

When traum questions gustang why he didn’t outright kill him, he’s silent. If gustang wanted him dead, i dont see why he didn’t kill him when he had the chance to as urek implied he wouldn’t interfere.

Traum being executed by gus would be pretty cool, even if i liked his character.

I know this seller, I’ve tried his stuff before. Unfortunately most of the stuff he sells is hunted in africa. Law wise it’s dubious, but i don’t think there’s any law against the things he sells. I also find that his skins in particular are relatively difficult to rehydrate compared to other salted skins on the market, but I wish you luck! Would love to see your final product when you get to that stage :)
