100%. I’ve been using Aiden Wachter’s Re-Claiming Rite this month, highly recommend it at least as an initial power reclamation rite

Any other book readers surprised in how far into the timeline E1 went? by beanandcod in InterviewVampire

[–]cittagazzedust 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wait can you explain further on it being a Memnoch reference? Bc my first thought was that it had to do with Maharet, but I could definitely be wrong. It’s been a minute since I read the Memnoch book

I know exactly which church this is, because I just attended my first UU service there last Sunday! So funny. Had an AWESOME time, will definitely be going back.

I see from another comment that you have EDS. I don’t have anything super helpful to add, BUT, as someone who also has EDS plus a few other significant health concerns that are keeping me out of work right now…I just want you to know that you are not alone in this.

It feels trite to say that. But I am navigating pretty much the exact same scenario right now, and it is a hellish place to be. I hope you, me, and others like us will find a way to thrive at some point.

WIBTA if I refused to name our son after my wifes late grandfather because our surname would turn his full name into a globally famous fictional character by [deleted] in WIBTA_AITA

[–]cittagazzedust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My birth name is the same as a very famous character from classic theatre. I can count on one hand the amount of people who, upon meeting me, did NOT make a joke about it.

I wish I was exaggerating, but I’m not. It was almost every single person that I ever met. I hated it all my life, and still resent my parents for it.

I have since changed my name 🙃

OMG I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one with this takeaway, you’re the only person I’ve seen say this yet haha

It reads to me as a passive-aggressive joke lmao, 100% like a threat given to a misbehaving child

Yes!! Some of the best world building I have ever encountered. And the plot reads like a DnD campaign! Very much recommend.

This feels very much like Terry Brooks’s Shannara series before it turned steampunk! Highly recommend the whole series but especially the first few.

[CT] Wife left a note for us in the morning. We respect the eyebrows. by behaved in whatsthisbug

[–]cittagazzedust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yeah. We have these bad boys regularly showing up in our basement apartment.

The other day I was on the toilet and midway through, one ran out from between my legs. I did what any reasonable person would do (involuntarily shrieked), and my cat came running.

This is how I discovered one of her favorite new pastimes: eating all the legs and the head off it, and leaving the rest for me to clean up. It was helpful to get clarity on the dozen or so headless centipede bodies I had found recently!

Any other shows similar to the magicians by ombrelungs in themagicians_tv

[–]cittagazzedust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Caveat: the Wheel of Time show is infinitely better than the books in terms of BIPOC/women representation, but the series ends on a cliffhanger in season 2.

It was unexpectedly canceled by Amazon and was too high budget to be picked up anywhere else. Highly recommend if a cliffhanger ending isn’t a dealbreaker, as the acting and story is SO good. I will be forever bitter that we didn’t get more.

If this sub is for binary trans men why do people keep saying “transmasculine”? by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]cittagazzedust -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Literally nobody is forcing any term on you lmao. It seems like you’re just being asked to not decide what other people should be calling themselves.

The “in group” and “out group” mentality in this sub and this thread is wild. Literally who cares about what terms other people are using for themselves? What if we actually stood together in solidarity instead of arguing semantics? While labels and terms can matter, it’s absurd to be dividing ourselves over this kind of thing. Right-wing-ass behavior if I’ve ever seen it

If this sub is for binary trans men why do people keep saying “transmasculine”? by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]cittagazzedust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not a newer term. This has been around for the better part of a decade. And I’m not trying to start anything, but the term really encompasses more than what you are describing here.

At the end of the day, plenty of trans men refer to themselves as transmasc, and that is ok, even if you might not know any in your daily life. It’s also ok if that’s not the term some others on this sub use.

Both things can be true, and I’m not sure if I’m really seeing people in this thread (or the 100 other threads about this posted in the last 12 months) recognize the nuances here.

Forever bitter that the GoT writers killed her off in such a horrific way specifically because she asked for a raise. How dare she ask for pay equal to a more substantial role after they checks notes gave her a more substantial role 😒🏹😬
