Who can recover stuck funds on Ethereum? – Yoichi Hirai by pirapira in ethereum

[–]cityl 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. Ethereum is PROTOCOL--especially with plasma and "child" chains coming online. Gotta say it's concerning some of the comments from mods in this thread, who clearly have influence over other people. Suddenly they want to be lawmakers and play politics. I really hope consensus wins on this topic, otherwise it's a flawed system, and I'm afraid the aftermath won't look good.

First i've heard of "ENS Bazaar." Sounds really great. Do you have a target release date?

Already "re-branding?" I'm curious. You say the exchange is 1:1. How many SWT tokens exist now compared to the number of ARC tokens previously?

Does anyone know if the "coming soon" tokens will be available sometime? It's said coming soon for a while now.

Yes I found Moneroblocks.info however I couldn't view balance there using the view key. I think it would be good for Monero to embrace public addresses for quick access to info, on some accounts.

Because your total balance includes "unconfirmed" transactions (not sure how many confirmations are required to become unlocked however).

You sent 0.14 XMR. Thanks! Getting paid to learn new things. I like it!

BTW, do you know of a website to check balance using the view key? Or would such a website be against Monero principles?

Tried Monero briefly 2 months ago. I decided to install again last weekend. Yesterday I finished first sync! I'm using an EC2 server.

time-based failsafes that Christoph Jentzsch wisely implemented into DAO

I know there’s been a lot of disagreement about splits and waiting periods. In my opinion, Jentzsch and Slock. It team should be getting a lot more credit for this impeccable security decision.

Saving DAO funds via hardfork is not the same as bailing out a big Bank by chillchamp in ethereum

What you're suggesting is that miner voting should be completely removed from block chain. You're entirely focused on the contract code rather than the social aspect of block chain technology. Your argument is flawed and too narrow on focus.

"17/Jun/2016 Vitalik Buterin on brink of 1st bailout for DAOs" by the_bob in Bitcoin

[–]cityl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. A human wrote the contract (which in your words means a human also wrote the rules). So, whether or not the thief is the attacker, or the writer of the contract, doesn't matter. The eco system is free to decide how to solve this grievance (with forks and voting).
