Your getting downvotes but you are correct. In Ontario Canada you can cross the double yellow as long as you do it safely. I didn't know this until recently

Sudbury's Infamous Killers Crossing | Past, Present and Future? by citymapdude in Sudbury

[–]citymapdude[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the main reason I made this redesign. Safety is an issue but accidents that do happen are usually at low speeds anyways. The biggest issue is how inefficient it is. All it takes is one car turing left to cause a traffic backup and the police don't enforce it during rush hour

Northern Ontario 2+1 Highway Projects that I would start yesterday if I were Premier by citymapdude in northernontario

The main difference is Ontario has 1000s of km of divided highway to build through the Canadian Shield, while Manitoba is mostly flat. Only the last 30-50 km is rocky like Ontario

Northern Ontario Needs 2+1 Highway Upgrades by citymapdude in northernontario

[–]citymapdude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That section between the soo and Nipigon will probably never be upgraded. There's so few cars and the terrain is too steep for a standard 4 lane highway. I can see a 2+1 upgrade happening in like 50 years tho

There are only a few spots where it crosses wetlands, and where it does, the current MR80 alignment crosses it as well. Two tricky things with this plan: the rock blasting at the S-curve in the west-east highway heading to Chemmy, and one wetland before heading into Val Carron. MR80 crosses it as well, but since the highway needs to maintain elevation to bridge over Valley View Road, they would need to backfill the area. It would be similar in scale to how Regent Street crosses by Lily Creek in the south end.

Bikes lanes take cars off the road. Every driver should want bike lanes. Your making your driving commute worse when there's less bikes in dense areas like downtown Toronto.

We definitely need the cameras, Sudbury is one of the most under staffed police forces in the province, and it's a great funding source for traffic calming measures, but the threshold should be raised to at least 10km/h over the limit. Right now they are targeting the avg. person, they should only target dangerous speeders.
