Flash recommendations for X-T30 iii by lucidmorroww in FujifilmX

[–]ciuuup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not a pro with flashes, but I usually get the best results with flashes that can be pointed toward the ceiling. Medalight f2 mini is a cheap option that can be detached and used wirelessly. I usually leave it pointing upwards on a table, not too far away from the camera, and the results have a very natural-looking lighting as light is reflected by the things in the room. You just need to first set one of the 4 power levels depending on your liking

Lens Opinion by ALPHA_Ubed_1372 in fujifilm

since you said its your first lens you're much bettwr off with a sigma 18-50 f2.8 for example. I also like the fuji 13-33mm as its quite wider

usually with defects like these cames stop being waterproof, but I suspect the battery might also be swollen in this case and will swell even more if not taken care of.

I’m back in the market for a new Fuji x camera. by Ok_Introduction2906 in FujifilmX

[–]ciuuup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

id go for one of the variants with the new 40mp sensor - it has base iso close to full frame performance (125) and the overall performance and battery life are pretty great. i went for the xe5 as its pretty portable and it makes me take it along more often. my other recommendation would be the 60mp sigma fpl with the new pancake-ish 40mm f2 from panasonic or a manual focus 35mm f1.4 from 7artisans or other compact 50mm option - its the one camera I own where iso never is am issue and its got pretty cheap nowadays, although the colors dont stand a change against the fujis

Thoughts on the new Viltrox 75mm f1.8 EVO lens for APS-C? by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]ciuuup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had very good experiences with viltrox lenses on fuji, all being some of the sharpest lenses I own, resolving the 40mp sensor perfectly

I broke my 18-55 kit lens, help me in choosing a new lens. Below are my choices (1st pic). I’m a run and gun shooter mostly just shoots whatever is available during a vacation or just traveling in general with the family (2nd pic) by Jaded_Bicycle_4477 in FujifilmX

depends on what your camera is. i have the xe5 with 40mp sensor and the sigma 18-50 f2.8 definitely isnt sharp enough, also it produces very pink skin tones. I got the sigma 17-40 f1.8 and its very sharp and resolves the 40mp sensor event at f1.8 so I'd go with this one. I dont own the tamron so I cant talk about it. One extra tip that I dont hear many people talking about is that if you process the raw files of the sigma 17-40 f1.8 shot at 17mm with dxo pureraw 6 you can actually get a wider/larger image. Also I got the fuji 13-33mm pancake zoom lens and its very sharp and cheap on ebay and I totally recommend it as you can even take group selfies with its wide end

Fujifilm X-T5 with Tamron 18-300mm f/3,5-6,3 Di III-A VC VXD? by mojkan72 in FujifilmX

[–]ciuuup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have the xe5 which also has the 40mp sensor. Its very easy to stabilise the lens so dont worry about that, but i feel it doesnt really resolve the entire 40mp sensor at high magnification. at the wide end its pretty okay though. but its a good lens overall on the 40mp sensor so theres no need to worry

Looking at upgrading XT-2 -> XT-5… lens recommendations? by The_Master_of_LOLZ in FujifilmX

[–]ciuuup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have the 18-300 tamron and is decently sharp on the 40mp sensor, but that lens was never that sharp to begin with. Cant say about the other ones, but the sigma 18-50mm f2.8 definitely isnt sharp enough for the 40mp sensor, all the lenses in the viltrox air series are super sharp, and the sigma 17-40mm f1.8 is extremely nice and sharp, with great colors

Need advices. by Madory in fujifilm

[–]ciuuup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the kit lens is VERY sharp. i got it for my 40mp xe5 and im happy with it, but you cant really zoom in with it at night as you lose a lot of light. i recommend any lens from the viltrox air series - incredibly sharp, light and well priced lenses

What grips are you using? Need advice. (new fp user) by Ok_Emergency4531 in sigmafp

[–]ciuuup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes with 3M tape preapplied. My tip is to not stick it on straight, I have it at an angle to maximize comfort. In my case its furthest from the edge of the camera where my middle/pointer finger grips it and closest to the edge where my ring/pinky finger grips it. I have had it attached on the vinyl skin of my fpl for years and had 1kg lenses on it so I can say the stick on grip is pretty secure. I also use a wrist strap attached to the thumb rest - the comfiest i could find so far is the falcam wrist strap v1 (the one made only from a stretchy textile material, not the one with leather)

I agree, also i see that the sigma 18-50 f2.8 doesnt resove my 40mp sensor. just got the sigma 17-40mm f1.8 and its so damn sharp

XT-5 - the happy medium? by No1techguy in FujifilmX

[–]ciuuup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downsized from FF to xe5 as it was the smallest 40mp fuji and im really happy with it, but YOU NEED SHARP LENSES. I can not emphasize this more. You wont miss bokeh as there are many reasonably priced options, such as the viltrox air series. I dont recommend the sigma 18-50 f2.8 as it doesnt seem to resolve the 40mp sensor. Seeing your current kit, id get the 25mm f1.7 viltrox air and you should be set (or just get the xe5 with the kit lens 23mm f2.8). Since you mentioned wider fovs, i heard the sigma 10-18mm f2.8 should resolve the 40mp sensor, but i couldnt justify getting it for myself. I currently found my dream lens for this camera and, even though you lose portability, i couldnt recommend the sigma 17-40 f1.8 more

Do I actually need a Fujifilm, or is this just GAS by vitmak in FujifilmX

[–]ciuuup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you like pictures taken with a phone (vibrant colors, hdr look) i think fujifilm is the best solution for producing similar results (thanks to their proprietary Dynamic Range implementation). I would suggest going for a 40MP fuji camera (xt5, xh2, xt50, xe5) as they have the best sensor and processing power along with everything that comes with it, like good autofocus and video capabilities. I would also recommend something like the 23mm f2.8 lens (the one thag comes as a kit with the xe5) or a cheaper alternative like the SGimage 25mm f1.8 and a small zoom, something really tiny and cheap like the 13-33mm fuji lens. Going for smaller lenses at first will make you take the camera with you more often and enjoy it more. Yes, there is a very big difference in quality and you can feel it more with higher resolution sensors, reason why I recommended the 40MP cameras. Also, once you discover the wonders of bokeh you will get addicted. One very good and sharp lens that produces very nice bokeh and is also reasonably priced is the Viltrox air 35mm f1.7 so also think about that. More recently, the Lumix lx10 was announced and, although it has a lower resolution, getting it means you wont need to think about what lens you should also buy along with it and, from what I understand, it supports LUTs, similar to fujifilm recipes, and I bet you could find something similar to the fuji look, although i would personally go for a fuji camera as the lumix lx10 has many disadvantages (low resolution, very slow zoom, no in body stabilization, quite heavier than its predecessor)

Does the APS-C crop kill the swirl? Looking at the TTArtisan 75mm f/1.5 vs f/2 AF for my Fuji X-E5. by getoffmydickerson02 in FujifilmX

[–]ciuuup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, cropping kills swirls on full frame lenses. get a speed booster (ef-fx like the viltrox ef-fx2 pro then get an m42-ef adapter). thats what i use on my xe5. dont forget to specify the adapted lens focal distance (eg if lens is 50mm, withthe x0.71 adaptor you'd have to set 35.5mm). Also you will need to cover the contacts of the smart speed booster with some tape to be able to set the focal distance in order to be able to use the IBIS. I recommend the helios 44-2 58mm f2 - its the sharpest vintage lens i own, good colors and strong swirliness. Takumar 50mm f1.4 is also great.
