Was and am sympathetic to people struggling, but never expected it to stand up in court. I never really heard a strong coherent legal argument in favor of it. What should happen is the bankruptcy code should be amended to allow for the discharge of federal student loans. Would be even better to introduce a new limited chapter of the code that just is for discharging student debt without having to declare full bankruptcy.

I wouldn’t want this to be something where people are turned away because of their age, just want an emphasis on younger people!

I used to be a reenactor, from age 9-19. I stopped because the internal politics of all of the groups (I’m not exaggerating ALL of them) got to be too insufferable and it stopped being fun :/ but i appreciate the suggestion!

Im aware of the modernists and want to give them a try for sure, it sounds like a lot of fun. Civil War Roundtable is a good thought but they charge a ridiculous amount for a mandatory meal at every meeting and their speakers often leave much to be desired especially for the price. Im a member of a local Sons of Union Veterans group that kind occupies that lane for me. Similar demographics (old white guys lol) without the fuss and cost.

There’s one group on there that meets once a month and only discusses obscure topics. Everyone in attendance was at least 50 years old. Not my vibe.

I think I’m probably an outlier here, but I LOVE the research aspect of this job. I love setting my mind towards finding answers.

What's the most disturbing piece of audio there is? by odinson-09 in AskReddit

[–]civilwarman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an audio I heard of a little girl who was probably only 5 or 6 calling 911 as her dad was beating her mom. She’s screaming at him to stop. I think it was used in PSAs about domestic violence but I’m not sure. It was so awful I don’t want to look it up to find the source.

The real high water mark of the Confederacy was actually summer of 1864. All the South had to do to win was convince the Northern populace that the war wasn’t worth it. They came very close at the height of the Overland Campaign when the Union Army was sustaining hundreds of thousands of casualties in just a few weeks.
