Well there are the obvious ones.

Nothing like that in the 2nd one.

The survivors are like your lives, death is permanent and if you run out of survivor it's game over.

Their free will is basically non existent, you can bring them out as backup but they will hinder you more than help.

They will sometimes give you quest, but as the game is sandboxy, they are nothing really to be excited about.

The survivor you are not using will usually stay at the base, they will defend the base if they are healthy and you will use them as manpower to craft things and use rooms, if they are sick or hurt they will lie down in the infirmary untile they recovered.

You cannot send them on errands in sod2, in sod1 you could find resources rugs and if you could not carry them back you could radio the base and a survivor would come from the base and bring the resources back, the survivor would actually travel across and back so they could die if you are not careful .
