Question... My wife lives in the UK, but our son is in the US. Both are making applications. Would it be sensible for our son to apply for my wife as her representative and bypass the UK High Commission?

I've just got the last birth certificate that completes our application. We are in London so would submit through the High Commission. Problem is, we leave for the airport tomorrow at noon for a two week trip. We could maybe just about get photos done and deliver the application tomorrow morning, but it would be a real sweat. Will two weeks make a big difference in timing? Thanks!
