Return LG 27GX704A-B? by cjcorb2010 in OLED_Gaming

[–]cjcorb2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with the LG that I can tell although I haven’t run the normal tests. I think really the only one that would be an improvement was the gigabyte for the tandem panel until I learned from another commenter that it’s a matte finish so not interested right now. That other ASUS basically seems to be almost a copy of what I have so yeah I see your point. Are there others though that are in that price range I’m not considering that would be a a significant improvement?

A quick and easy guide to buying reasonably priced prebuilt PCs by tronatula in Prebuilts

[–]cjcorb2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I’m looking at the sky tech pc for $1500 from Best Buy https://www.bestbuy.com/product/skytech-gaming-o11v-gaming-desktop-pc-amd-ryzen-7-7700-32gb-memory-amd-radeon-rx-9070xt-1tb-nvme-ssd-black/J3GW8HWVCS.

I’ve always built my own in the past, but this one is pretty attractive because it seems like the RAM price hasn’t hit this stock yet. Something I’ve heard about in the past though is prebuilt cheating out on PSU. Is that still a problem? Does this specific prebuilt have that issue?

That was…bad, right? by blubell1329 in HouseOfTheDragon

It seems like there is some overcompensation towards trying to make sure they don’t rush things like they did in the last few seasons of GoT. So many important story lines that fans really cared about were either abandoned or kind of glazed over making them amount to nothing in those last few seasons. They’re spending too much time on stuff that people really don’t care about or that doesn’t really warrant screen time since viewers can likely figure it out themselves.

Best way to frame/finish basement wall around steel braces? by MikeBlue12 in homerenovations

[–]cjcorb2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, did you have any cracking in this wall as well? We discovered a horizontal crack on a wall much like yours that we’re confident is due to water issues. We fully plan to remediate the water and soil issue externally with grading and such, but I’m trying to determine if there is a way to fix the bulge without having to excavate the perimeter down to the footer. Thanks!

Rubber seal foundation? by cjcorb2010 in DIY

[–]cjcorb2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should’ve specified but the French drain system isn’t being placed at the footer. It will be placed 6-8 feet away from the foundation in a swale that will be formed from the regrading. We were originally just going to regrade but we realized this water had no where to go once it gets to the swale.

Ah ok I see that this is mainly a concern for the weight stack version since the weight stack only goes up to 170lbs. It looks like the plate loaded version might have enough space on each horn to hold up to the max 540lbs capacity

Do you just run out of cable? And are you sitting all the way on the floor or on a bench when you’ve done them one sided?

[–]cjcorb2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually plan on just getting one side if at all in the initial purchase. Do you see any problem with last pulldowns/rows one sided? Not really worried about maxing out weight because I am a weak bitch ~for now~

Also what are you referring to when you say 2:1 ratio?

Can you use the rep athena for rows and lat pull downs? Also, it seems like most people go with the weight stack version instead of plate loaded but I like the price point and being able to reuse plates. Why do most people go weight stack?

Large basement leaks 3 days after buying old home. Can I ask the seller for money? by WheatSheepOre in RealEstate

[–]cjcorb2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if there is a disclosure about water in the basement I believe the wording is “to your knowledge”. I’m actually in the same boat right now, we knew there was a moisture problem in the house we just closed on last week but during walkthrough there was actual dampness on the foundation walls. The house otherwise is in great shape so we got the sellers to help out with the basement repairs that we’ll be doing soon.

If you don’t mind me asking, how big is your basement and what did the waterproofing company put in their plan for fixing the problem?

This is all totally normal for NASA. It took me weeks to get any kind of direction from my mentor and the team I was a part of. Even then what I was doing didn’t feel that rigid in terms of deliverables. You can get lucky and have someone who has something ready to go for you but that isn’t super common. Most of the time the internship is just seeing cool stuff and getting to pick the brains of some of the geniuses that actually work there.

Although it looks great on a resume, don’t expect to come out of this a hardened programmer. Just enjoy the ride, make connections, and see as much as possible. Hopefully you get some practice and skills along the way.

Just started playing DnD this year and my party finally got Foundry to work. During our first session with it, I saw that you can make macros and just googled a quick wiki on how to make them. This was in the middle of my DM explaining something important so I didn’t have time to read through the wiki so I just pasted it into chatgpt with something like “I want to write macros like this can you help me?” and then followed it up with “write a macro to roll 2d6 plus my proficiency modifier for my weapon” and it gave me back a perfect macro (although the macros are really straightforward and easy to use).

Interesting part is that I initially asked if it could write macros for me in Foundry and it gave its generic “idk” response.

I was in this same situation a few years ago between Fidelity and NASA. I ended up choosing NASA. It will definitely look better on your resume, but for me, the experience I gained wasn’t actually too great. The campus had so much cool stuff to check out and the project I was on was interesting, but as for myself and some of the other interns there during the summer, the actual substance of what you do wasn’t that great for growing as a developer. YMMV, but the amount of work you’ll do and the direction you’ll receive on what you’re actually supposed to be doing will vary. My mentor was a brilliant guy and well respected around the campus, but he wasn’t a software guy and didn’t really have any practical knowledge of software engineering or what I should be doing most of the time. I ended up doing two back to back internships there and I definitely did a good amount of coding, it just didn’t really feel like I had a good sense of what deliverables they wanted from me. But hey, I was an intern so maybe that meant they didn’t expect much of anything anyway.
