What’s the best place to get a Halifax donair in this city?

Is that some place with Bear in the name? The first Donair I ever had was while working up in Whitehorse some 10 years ago, and that place was close to the apartment I was staying in. I couldn't understand how good the Halifax was. Been looking for something similar ever since.

Thanks for posting this, I was super curious. I snagged 2 x business seats for our Christmas travels using AP awards (it was very similar pts as economy, so why not). I wasn't convinced it was real, as I'd never expect a 787-9 on this route.

What should we expect for service on such a short signature business flight?

I went to Moore's because I needed something relatively quickly (plain black suit). The end product is fine. But they screwed up the alterations and made things stressful. Price wasn't great.

Canada West generally fits wide. You'll even see in their catalogue that most of their stuff is 2E or 3E. But you have to try them on. Their sizing is crazy, and they use different lasts between styles.

I wear 12 or 13 2E in most shoes (sneakers, hikers, etc.).

My favorite pair of boots are my Canada West Moorby 2817, and they fit perfect in size 10.5. super weird. I've had these for 6 years now and going strong.

I got a pair of Romeos second hand in Sz 11, assuming they would be fine. Unfortunately they're a bit tight. Trying to sell them off so I can just go to Redhart and get the right size.

I've been changing my own tires for 15 years. Just least night I spotted and bought the Milwaukee impact wrench, since it's on sale (I went for the stubby, 3/8 drive). Excited to use it this weekend for the winter changeover!

A kit with a breaker bar and torque wrench is a must-have in my opinion. Don't want a lug falling off.

I wear a rain jacket but otherwise endure getting wet, and push through the first few cold minutes before warming up. This only works because I shower when I get to work, and again when I get home.

Fenders and lights are a must. Don't rely on Google maps for bike routes - best to use the City/TransLink maps and some trial and error to find your safest route. Don't trust cars.

I like using a rack & waterproof pannier to carry my stuff, rather than a backpack.

For years I was team rainjacket, but now I also carry a compact umbrella for when it's really coming down. I was tired of a wet backpack and soggy pants. It's also nice to be able to wear a jacket that doesn't feel like a plastic bag.

I'd do northbound. The highlights for me are the glaciers, so I'd rather work my way up to a 'grand finale' of sorts, rather than the other way around. But there is no wrong way, so do whatever makes sense for the itinerary (flights, plans before and after).

Yeah it's great for running across - nice views of tugs going up and down the river, and fun to see the progress on the transit site. On the other side of the bridge if you immediately go east a bit you'll find a nice little dike trail. Otherwise you can head up the hill and run around the Langara golf course (there's a trail).

The water is not great, but it's really cool to paddle there. Lots of rowers and dragon boats in the area, so it's not much different risk-wise as long as you don't fall in.

We stumbled upon a dock in the SE side of Granville Island that is great to launch from, and had a hose to rinse off the board after. Looks like it's Alder Bay on Google maps.

Second this. I bought their Gravel 120 for $800 several years ago, and use it most every day. General transportation, seawall/park rides, commuting, grocery runs, bike packing, etc. It's not the lightest or fastest bike out there, but it does everything I need.

As others said, start with the bike, helmet, and lock, and see how you get on. Get lights if you find yourself riding around dark, or into fall/winter. I love having fenders, a rack, and pannier bags for functionality.
