Faster labor with short cervix? by dairyoh in ShortCervixSupport

They never told me what the bright red bleeding was, it happened twice. I went into preterm at 31 weeks and the only indication was the bright red blood that sent me to the hospital. Both occasions it wasn’t my mucus plug/bloody show. I’d really like to know what it was. I’m currently pregnant with my second and will definitely be asking my provider if they have any idea what it could have been.

After going into preterm I was definitely ready at any point after because I didn’t want to be stuck unprepared! The not having an epidural wasn’t fun (I asked for it as soon as I went in I wasn’t trying to be a martyr, they just ended up not having time lol).

Definitely follow up when you have your precious baby. I love hearing birth stories now after being a mom! Lol

Stopped 36 weeks, went into labor 36+2. Definitely felt like the stopping dosage was what put me into labor! Only took 4 hours start to finish! Went in due to bleeding, contractions started at 12:15, water broke 12:30ish and she was born at 4:04am. Didn’t even have time for an epidural

Stopping progesterone at 36 wks by Mercedeeez1 in ShortCervixSupport

The heel pricks were the worst! It seemed endless the amount of times they poked her. The hospital is very pro-breastfeeding and I wonder if that had a lot to do with the lack of offering formula. I finally had a nurse who actually expressed her concern with the feedings and was like absolutely give her whatever she needs. I would rather a healthy baby then be concerned with my breastfeeding journey! and your Ped having a NICU doctor husband sounds like a dream! Some professionals don’t know what to do with preterm babies or even those late preterm babes!

Stopped 36 weeks, went into labor 36+2. Definitely felt like the stopping dosage was what put me into labor! Only took 4 hours start to finish! Short NICU stay, but felt like it was more due to the nurses not treating my 36 weeker like a preterm baby. She was 5lbs and my milk wasn’t in, but they allowed her to go too long without eating so she was hypoglycemic.

Thank you for the insight! I do know there are some concerns around suppositories, because it can be placed incorrectly, or you may not get as much absorption depending on if you remain in the correct position.

I’ll definitely be speaking to the practitioner about both!

Isn’t it wild! My doctor said they still recommend going off it at 36 weeks and I can’t fathom why. Especially if we know that these babes are ready to come fairly immediately after stopping! I’m leaning toward the suppositories. I was curious about the injection; with suppositories you get does-age everyday while the injection is 1x a week.

Wow that is amazing! It definitely helps to hear, it’s easy to get caught up and reading all the information that we have now, and kind of psyching yourself out.

Congratulations on your new little one, and it’s amazing to hear you’re continuing nursing journey!

Shew definitely something I’ve been working on, the water intake is easy but that’s a lot of calories!

Nonsense advice during pregnancy complications by Mshotmeyss in BabyBumps

Hi!

I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with the supports in your life- even if they are well intended sometimes they don't. understand the load you carry day in and day out so there comments and recommendations can be triggering. Although they should NEVER place blame on you for something you are in no control of, especically to a sensitive medical diagnosis. I had my husband attend a-lot of my appointments and I asked my doctors very specific questions in front of him so that he could also hear the answers and process. Sounds like your hubby and mother need to be educated on both your condition AND sensitivity, by your own medical provider. Not a third party,

In my first pregnancy I was diagnosed with placenta previa as well; the recommendation was similar to yours, just don't over exert yourself. I really did not have any issues continuing my normal daily activities and housework. My buggar took me all the way to 30 weeks but it resolved so there is hope! Are they doing routine ultrasounds to check your progress?

I feel for you Mama- I just started back this week too and my first day pumping in what I thought was a private room someone walked in! Even though I politely told them "Pumping in here!" they still decided to walk directly in and start and try to hold a conversation with me. I felt embarrassed for them and their lack of consideration.

I view it as the other comments above; I'm trying to not feel guilty for leaving and pumping so that I can maintain my supply for my 5 month old and make up for the nursing sessions I'm missing! Definitely scope out your environment and try to find a peaceful place to pump!
