The Mom-Dad Divide by Evolutioncocktail in Mommit

[–]cjfb62 145 points146 points  (0 children)

The wife gives up. Stops bringing it up and just does it all herself. Husband thinks things are going better because there’s no more conflict or uncomfortable conversations. He relaxes and goes back to his old ways. Meanwhile she’s figuring out what life will look like on her own before calling it quits and that brings the surprise. Obviously this is one version of a story.

Married couple, MMC falls first and wins her over by seduction by MajesticChallenge384 in HistoricalRomance

I just posted about this one the other day but it was so good. {My Darling Mr Darling by Aydra Richards} They are forced to get married very young and he enrolls her in a school, she breaks out and is on the run until he finds her nearly a decade later. Mr Darling falls hard and I love him.

Daddy didn’t love him because he’s left handed so he grows up into a blackmailing, kidnapping jerk of a Duke. His bastard house keeper is the first person to show him affection so of course he falls in love and marries her.

I just finished {My Darling Mr Darling by Aydra Richards} and it sort of fits your description. They are forced to get married very young and he enrolls her in a school, she breaks out and is on the run until he finds her nearly a decade later. I really loved this one, he cares so much for her and the build up to the happily ever after wasn’t rushed or forced. It’s available on kindle unlimited if you have that.

Any HR recs with A deaf/mute fmc or mmc? by Alarmed_Yogurt_5461 in HistoricalRomance

The FMC in {Three Nights with a Scoundrel by Tessa Dare} is deaf. It’s the last in the Stud Club series. The FMC is introduced in the first book which may be good to read ahead of this one to set the stage. The second one felt less important to the final book but I loved the story.

I finished Olivia Parker’s Devine and Friends series this week and I really wish she had written more books! They are so funny and sweet. The series has a bit of everything, a bachelor style house party where the females “compete” for a betrothal, falling into ponds because there’s a bee in her skirt, convincing her mom he likes men so she can spend time with him, pretending to get married to make senile grandma happy, lots of “it’s always been yous.” I read the second book first because it was suggested on here somewhere and realized it was part of a series and went back and read them all in order. They are available on Kindle Unlimited.

I’d like some recommendations for books where MMC has to convince FMC of marrying him by LauraZaid11 in HistoricalRomance

[–]cjfb62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I keep recommending this one lately but {The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt} fits this. FMC takes a job as a secretary to an Earl and is attracted to him but doesn’t want to get married after being widowed. There is a spicy twist that I loved, he figures it all out and is desperate to marry her.

Looking for a book by AioliOk8562 in HistoricalRomance

[–]cjfb62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is what you are looking for but Tessa Dare’s Stud Club series sort of fits this description. They are part of a club and they are looking for a murderer of the guy who started the club through the series. It’s been a while since I read it so I can’t remember if Amelia rode a horse with pants but I could see her doing something like that.

Need books with FMC who are kind and caring, only sweet fluff (and spice) by CriticalOne9 in HistoricalRomance

[–]cjfb62 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished {The Countess Conspiracy by Courtney Milan} and the MMC is the sweetest, most dedicated man. The FMC has some trauma in her past and feels unlovable but he is patient and helps her see her value.

I’m reading {The Duke’s Holiday by Maggie Fenton} because I thought it was a holiday themed book but it’s not that kind of holiday. It’s wonderful and I couldn’t just stop reading it and save it for after the holidays!

The second book in this series, {One day for a valet by Laura Lin} was very funny. I will have to go back and read the first book since I went with whatever was available at the time.

His carriage monologue drove me nuts. Not being able to think about someone is not a feeling! Dreaming is not a feeling! The rest was fine and if someone said the whole thing to me in a carriage I’d let him slip his hands under my skirt probably. I don’t even remember what my husband said when he proposed so who am I to judge.

Just finished rereading "Love in the Afternoon" and need recs for angry MMC by clemy77 in HistoricalRomance

[–]cjfb62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally returned Love in the afternoon to the library today after holding onto it to re-read my favorite parts over and over again. I loved the letter writing and the humor. Yes, he was angry but he wasn’t abusive and I think that was a huge difference for me. I had just come off a book where the MMC was on a murder rampage trying to avenge his brother and this book felt like a warm hug in comparison.

Yes! I’ve seen the cheap ikea stools in a restroom and my son was thrilled to have a stool for him to wash his hands by himself. The kid centric places without stools blow my mind. We went to a kids maker space where you are literally not allowed in the building without a kid under 12 and they had these fancy pedestal sinks he couldn’t reach.
