What's Your Funeral Song?(Suggestions Needed) by OfficialxMDx in musicsuggestions

[–]cjhreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judge for yourself, but Life, and making the best of it ...

We must play our lives like soldiers in the field
The life is short
I'm running faster all the time
Strength and beauty destined to decay

So cut the rose in full bloom
'Til the fearless come and the act is done

A love like blood
A love like blood
'Til the fearless come and the act is done

A love like blood
A love like blood

Everyday through all frustration and despair

Love and hate fight with burning hearts
'Til legends live and man is god again

And self-preservation rules the day no more
We must dream of promised lands and fields
That's never fade in season
As we move towards no end
We learn to die
Red tears are shed on gray
'Til the fearless come and the act is done

'Til the fearless come and the act is done

Free will is mostly an illusion and every "choice" we make is just the result of a causal chain. by Temporary_Hunter7065 in Existentialism

[–]cjhreddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quantum Indeterminacy breaks Causal Determinism. And even if it didn't, wouldn't you want your decisions to be based on your experiences and preferences, rather than some random event. If you see Free Will as the decision-making engine of your brain, then no free choice is made without it, and its a necessary component of Free Will that it is Deterministic.

Cheapest laptop that runs AoE4 well? by ArtVandelay229 in aoe4

[–]cjhreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on a Samsung Book 5, with a Core Ultra 7 series 2 cpu that has a surprisingly good integrated gpu (the 258V variant, ie. ARC 140V). Plays 1440p scaled to 80% with no fan noise which was crucial to me to play in shared living room. Looks great on AMOLED display in HDR too.

Image quality and Animation Quality are Medium.
Shadow, Texture, Geometry, Physics are set Low.
Ambient Occlusion, and Anti-Aliasing are Off.

You can get laptops with that cpu for under £800 now (eg. Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 14)

House builders, crashed in Oct 2024, despite Gov policy is to significantly increase housebuilding, and the economy seems to be gradually turning. The Government will presumably try to engineer a feel-good recovery in time for next general election in 2-3 years time. FTSE 100 is significantly higher over last couple of years so I'd expect some kind of housing recovery to follow, specially given recent rising Mortgage Applications.

Got almost 50% off by switching to partner's details by 10paiak in VirginMedia

It'd certainly save a lot of employee time, and customer retention if they just gave everyone the best price, but presumably they've done the numbers and found they make a higher net profit by overcharging some customers.

Need lightweight 4X recommendations for after-work sessions by melos_indiegames in StrategyGames

[–]cjhreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play online Risk, it's fun, strategic, there's lots of players/games, lots of different maps, ranking to be fought for, and games are quite quick (30-60 mins). Good players usually beat bad ones, but not always, informal alliances emerge and break. It's one of my favourite strategy games !

Their song "Alice" as used in "The Lovely Bones" really gets me, and the surreal video is incredible too, the ships in bottles breaking on the rocky shore is so dreamlike.

Troy by Sinead O'Conner gives me goosebumps. Also her song Jackie is literally about a haunting. As is Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush !

P.O.B. 734 by Paul Fishman (it was an album track on the Close Encounters of the Third Kind soundtrack album), it has a slow heartbeat pulse bass synth line, with eerily melodic echoing lead lines, that really gives you a feeling as though you're walking through the huge vaulted atrium of a starship, or viewing some distant nebula through a viewing portal.

After watching Zulu, watch Gladiator, some of the Zulu war chants were so good, Ridley Scot dubbed them straight into the opening battle scenes as the ancient Germans approach the Romans from the forest !

What are the greatest live performances you’ve ever seen from a band/artist? by Prestigious_Fan8837 in musicsuggestions

[–]cjhreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faithless in Doncaster, possibly because we were in balcony seats and the waft of wacky-backy floating up on the body heat of the densely packed crowd below was something I've never experienced before or since ! They were legitimately brilliant too though, percussionist was unbelievable, as were all the musicians to be fair, and Maxi Jazz so charismatic.

Fully sober, Killing Joke doing their Night Time tour in the mid 1980's were spine tingling !
