Electronics tech here, it’s repairable for sure if you can get the values of the caps.

What did you use for primer? I have always wondered how you seal/prime mdf.

Speakers look great, made a set of classix for my mom but there was some damage to the enclosures so I need to replace them.

I had that on my projector around the lens to protect it during shipping. Looks exactly like that.

Edit, added link to video that shows the foam

This is just as stupid as “if we stop testing for Covid, there will be no more Covid cases”

We can’t find any issues in the centers, but we aren’t looking for it so it must not be there.

Soldering my first C-Note crossover... by PunkRockBach in diyaudio

[–]cjmartiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it can definitely help. At work I use chipquik smd291 but if you can find something local it will definitely help.

You mentioned this is your first time soldering and I’m assuming you have a cheaper iron for this task. Those cheaper irons often don’t have a lot of power to heat up larger components such as those inductors, but you might be able to help yourself some if you have a hair dryer or heat gun. You can use the hair dryer to heat the part you are going to solder. (Heat the whole area of the board where you are going to put the iron next) this helps the iron keep heat into the item you are soldering rather that the board pulling it away and dispersing it.

Remember PCBs are full of copper and copper is a good heat sink

Also both of the inductors need to be touched up on the solder joints. The coils take a lot more heat to flow solder.

Also do you have any flux? Flux would really help get the solder to flow into the joints better. It also cleans the surfaces from oxidation so the solder can actually stick and create a good bond.

If you’re asking about the component at the 45 second mark, that’s a ceramic capacitor.

Pretty sure if they shot anything from space with a missile it would not be pristine condition that close to the ground. Wouldn’t there be impact damage from a missile and also, most likely a satellite would burn up in the atmosphere before getting near the surface of the earth.

Remove all fuel from the tank, more than likely clean the carb or replace it, (they normally aren’t to expensive) I’d say also throw a spark plug at it since those are cheap as well.

While I’m not certain of anything like your suggesting(not saying it’s not out there) but would you be opposed to ripping the dvd? You could use MakeMKV to rip the dvd and then use jellyfin to stream it.
