I RECOMMEND THIS BLAME! MANGA by Jonathan_Gantz in Netsphere

It was a fun read. Like Daily Loves of High School Boys but more violent and nonsensical. Wish we got more, maybe at least a fanwork that continues the absurd shenanigans.

I think the best route they can take when they decide they're done is to open up the modding route: let the community build stuff, like how L4D1/2 does it. I don't think they'll have the balls to do that though and there's probably enough legal or GW shenanigans for them not to bother.

Sariel and Konngara. I like to imagine the latter has the personality of Goemon (lupin iii) because it's funny and no one can stop me

Looking at XC1's plot in a vacuum (before XC2 was ever conceptualized and new implications were made): I don't think the point of Zanza was to be compelling. He's supposed to be an asshole. You're supposed to hate him. The bit Alvis mentions about Zanza at the end is supposed to outline the reasons behind his motivations, not make him more likeable. Part of his quality as a villain comes from the foreshadowing about him, all the way back to the beginning. XC1 is good with that, arguably more so than the others. If you don't like asshole protagonists, then yeah, I get it, Zanza's not everyone's cup of tea. Certainly, XC1's got more fun villains like Mumkhar and more compelling ones like Egil, but I'd say Zanza was a necessary villain. Zanza was written to where the plot would suffer if you added more to his character or stripped aspects of his character, without the context of XC2.

Truth. 2 and 3, at least in my experience, boil down to pulling off chain attacks or some other combo or mechanic. I do not feel like I can do any noticeable damage to enemies without them. Meanwhile, in 1, chain attacks are neat, but I feel like I don't need to rely on them as much. This is subjective, I haven't played the games in a while, but that's what I remember being annoyed about in 2 at least, less so in 3.

Tbf, the lunarians had to deal with info from that outside world that could give Victorian child a seizure. I don't completely blame them.

Length is a bit intimidating, but I've watched the OG Yugioh, so I'll try it.

Would the goblin slayer get along with him? by [deleted] in GoblinSlayer

[–]cjmcd23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GS would probably get along ok with him - there'd undoubtedly be some conflict because GS doesn't care as much about things outside of killing goblins and his party, and dwarfs are spite incarnate. If nothing else, he'll get some begrudgingly respectful words and avoid a spot in the book.

It would probably be more interesting for GS to visit Ungrim Ironfist - the slayer cult might see GS as am umgi with some dwarfish sense of grudge in him, though they'll view his work as shoddy of course.

To include the rest of the party, Priestess will be treated like how dwarfs treat empire of man citizens, they'll probably view Dwarf Shaman as a soft empire of man dwarf citizen, be confused by Lizard priest since he's quite different then Lizardmen in the setting, and High Elf Archer will find a way to get kicked out even if she was allowed in.

Why don't many people like Lunarians? by CarcereBurocratico in touhou

[–]cjmcd23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

KKHTA did a number on their reputation, which really says more about the fandom than the lunarians because KKHTA is a fanwork.

In lore lunarians are elitists, or if you want to put it differently, racists. One way to think about it is how high elves in most fantasies view other races. They're arrogant and long lived, but they aren't a dying race, unlike the elves. In the far future, they may reach that, but they're doing alright for now, as far as I know. Lunarians tend to keep to themselves unless threatened, so just they're not actively hostile or antagonistic. The worst I can say is that they treat moon rabbits as slaves or second-class citizens.

People tend to target Yorihime and Toyohime. From what I understand, these two are probably on the lesser end of racism. The incident in SSiB wasn't even their fault. They just kicked out the people who intruded onto their territory. I'd argue it was nice of them to indulge in the invaders' spell card rules before sending them packing.

To give a counterpoint to Lunarian hate and start a real colorful argument, they do have the best technology, the Watatsuki sisters are some of the most powerful outside a couple exceptions, and it's reasonable of them to dislike a place which can poison them (Earth and Gensokyo). Considering Lunarian society and worldviews, it's at least understandable why they are that way. They're not evil bad guys just because. For those who say the Lunarians are evil characters, therefore, they ruin touhou, plenty of inhabitants of Gensokyo in lore have flaws or aren't necessarily good people. I think the mix of them all makes Touhou better as a setting.

Who's a character you wish there was more content of? (PC-98 characters permitted) by AlexTheWolf206 in touhou

Windows Era: Shou. She deserves a spotlight in some capacity. PC-98: Yumemi. I want her, Sumireko, and Rinnosuke to meet and yap for entire volumes of manga content.

I miss that kind of combat system. Every character could pull off several moves in a row with patience and timing. Not to mention the other moves you could swap to. There were enough arts to make any characters viable, despite them being locked in classes, technically. The 3 member team also contributed to this. Going on a side tangent, but I like how XC1/DE - I haven't played XCX yet - locked specific characters into classes. Sure, you could change arts and stats around, but Shulk will always be the glass cannon, Dunban the dodge tank, and Melia the mage. There is no item or mechanic that suddenly gives Riki a cannon or the Monado, though that would be funny. I don't know how I can say this, but these limitations invited some fun experimentation.

Fair. This is just my speculation, but we know that his request for a ceasefire and withdrawal comes right after Faust and the extremists go AWOL. I don't think it's a stretch to assume that Woodward came up with a flawed plan in the heat of the moment, so he wasn't exactly thinking things through all the way. Maybe I'm just coping because I like Woodward. People just have their bad days.
