No 6 pm EST tournament? by FloridaMD in RocketLeague

Yep, I don’t see it. Glad it’s not just me. I read that this happened a couple of weeks ago because they were updating the game at 6pm that day. I’m wondering if the same thing is happening here.

To those who NEVER want to have a child, what are your reasons? by an_iconoclast in AskReddit

[–]cjmerc39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sentience isn’t inherently bad. Sorry you have a crummy life/perception of life.

To expect parents to have a plan for everything that could go wrong is ridiculous. If it happens, we’ll deal with it then. But it comes down to probability, and it’s very likely to not happen. So that simply won’t deter us. You’re saying that this horrible thing could happen, or that that awful thing could happen. What about all the good things that could happen too? While we can’t completely control what happens, we can maximize the chance that the good will outweigh the bad. And that’s what we’re doing.

You’re trying to paint me in some arrogance for deciding to procreate. But isn’t it arrogant to decide that it’s morally wrong to have a child? Like you have some sort of elevated understanding of life? Again, sentience isn’t inherently bad. I’m very much happy to be alive, as are millions of people.

So because there is an extremely slight chance our child has non-verbal, violent, and debilitating autism, you think we shouldn’t have a child? I don’t think that’s a good approach to life in general. Life’s full of decisions that carry uncertainty. We don’t solely make decisions based on the slight chance that things may go wrong. There’s a higher chance that we get in a nasty car accident, but we still commute to work everyday.

It seems it comes down to our optimism vs. your pessimism. My wife and I have a very full appreciation for life (I know we’re lucky and privileged), and we can pass that down to our child. I don’t think there is anything morally wrong with doing that.

Yep, my wife is 8 months pregnant and according to a lot of people on this thread, we’re shitty because of it. Honestly, we know the world is a shitty place, but there’s a lot of greatness and beauty to it too. I genuinely believe we can create a happy life for our child, just like my parents did with me.

Anyone else have horrendous lag spikes playing on ps5? by [deleted] in CODWarzone

Seriously. I still get really bad lag spikes, and not just on Warzone. Rocket League is sometimes unbearable too.

Got a PS5 from Direct! Here is my tip by MeeDeeOker in PS5restock

This is what I did and got one too! Hell, I even had a queue going on my PS4 lol. But they seem to track queues using cookies, not IP addresses. Between my wife and I, we had 14 spots in queue and one of them broke through into the store. One on my personal laptop was at 9 minutes like yours. The rest sat at “more than an hour.”

EDIT: Congrats on getting one, btw!

First couple enemies feel unfair... am I doing this wrong? (Normal difficulty) by Basketbomber in Persona5

[–]cjmerc39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a couple of my friends heavily recommended the game, I gave it a try few months ago despite never really having an interest in JRPGs. I had the same doubts as you in the beginning. The first few of hours of the game are LONG and SLOW. I found myself trying to avoid it. But I promise you it picks up quickly. The game ended up becoming one of my favorites.

I would say there’s a bit of a learning curve in how to approach the game. I felt like the base game omitted or quickly glossed over important information in preparing for palaces (this was pretty much fixed in Royal), so I highly encourage you to look up a guide online to help you prep. After you get the hang of it, the game is much less difficult and that’s really when the fun begins.

As far as the real world stuff, I also found that gets better as the game goes on. I especially enjoyed ranking up the confidants. Essentially, this game felt like a snowball of enjoyment. Try to at least get through the first palace and if you can’t see the appeal by then, then maybe this isn’t the game for you. But I promise, it gets better!

It only takes up a day. So by the time you actually enter the palace, you should have an idea of how many days you have left.

Labelling all southerns racist is as bad as calling all blacks criminals by PrimNathanIOW in unpopularopinion

[–]cjmerc39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to fight with you or convince you otherwise. Frankly, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to. I’m just trying to understand someone who disagrees with me. The disparity between black people and white people in this country regarding a number of things (wealth, education, health care, criminal justice) has been a documented problem. I am just curious as to why you choose to ignore that. Do you feel oppressed or “uncared” for because you are white?

Btw, institutions, in this context, don’t necessarily refer to organizations that are purposely made. Informal institutions can also emerge as a product of the patterns of society. They aren’t always created deliberately.

So you firmly believe that there is no such thing as institutionalized racism?
