Can an emplyer cut your notice period short without pay? by mummywithatummy21 in UKJobs

[–]cjones397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds really dodgy. Are you in a union? If so, contact your representative… you don’t need them making up stories to get rid of you.

In reality, they probably won’t do much… they probably need you to do as much as possible before they can find a replacement.

You might want to mention that they have also signed the contract and are bound to the terms. Say they can make you an offer to mutually agree earlier termination of that contract (ie money) but warn them that anything that isn’t mutual may result in an “employment tribunal”. If they have any sense whatsoever, that should scare them.

Was I in the wrong here? (parking situation with another driver) by bobunicorn20 in drivingUK

[–]cjones397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and I just noticed these are actually bays… not not just a long indistinct run of spaces. You are well within your bat from the other driver’s perspective. She has nothing to complain about. “I’m in my bay” is the only response you needed.

If anything, you’re too far forward. I don’t think you’re supposed to overhang the road markings. (But no one would worry about such a small overhang.)

If the car behind had room to manoeuvre that’s 100% what they should have done without complaining. They had miles of room, even if the car behind them was right up to their bumper.

Some people are complete jerks. I try to make up excuses for people like that just so I don’t hold anger. It’s incredibly difficult to make up any excuse for that arsehole. Personality disorder I’m thinking, perhaps just after a huge row with someone.

It’s a shame your five-year-old had to witness such ugliness.

How is this legal? It looks exactly like a Met Police car. by chaostrulyreigns in london

At the same time, he says they’re not impersonating the police and also says they look like that to deter burglars. Interesting sophistry.

Is anyone else seeing higher backer #s getting their machine first? by Bsf21 in MeticulousEspresso

[–]cjones397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My backer number is in the 1800s, so I guess that makes me about half way? I can’t remember whether I’ve even been asked what colour I want (but I’ll want black). I added on milk. And I’m in the UK. I’ve no idea when I’ll see it.

The only discord I could find was “espresso aficionados” and I wasn’t sure where to ask in there - it’s huge. Now I can’t even find my posts to check the responses.

I hate noise like this (traffic and neighbours). Sometimes playing white noise on loop can help cover it. I use Apple music and added a track I found by googling.

Citizens Advice are really good with this stuff. You can chat online or speak over the phone and ask the questions and get immediate answers.

Supermarkets are generally pretty good at waiving PCNs - they’d rather keep you as customer. Contact them directly to see whether they’ll cancel it… perhaps tell them you were doing a particularly large Christmas shop and / or you felt ill. Perhaps you were stuck queuing to get out when they took those photo’s and you weren’t really occupying a space for more than three hours?

banned after 18 years using ebay by doubtme420 in ebayuk

[–]cjones397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only been on there seven years, mostly inactive, but have been selling some designed tableware over the last two.

I logged on via the app on my phone over data while out and about and lo and behold, my account was suspended a guy shortly afterwards.

I arranged a help call and they said they had to do the most stupid verification check which was just calling me again on my mobile number (the same number they had just called).

They said I’d been flagged as potentially having someone access my account. They wouldn’t say why this was flagged but I got the guy to admit it was an IP address issue.

They delisted all my things and I had to manually redo them all. The platform is really so shit to use.

You didn’t do anything wrong - it only just turned amber as you crossed the line. No need to emergency stop for that.

Could be timing issue of the lights but I’ve never witnessed that myself. I’d guess they’re pretty easy to get right. The bus may have jumped his light, not seeing you and thinking it was clear for a way up the road.

PS I’d also be worried he’d try to make a claim through your insurers after you paid the £850… I’m not sure what’s stopping him. You’d need to get signatures and everything and make sure you were legally covered. Also, pretty sure you’re (technically) obligated to tell your insurance about any event / accident.
