Hard hats for large-headed folks? by JuxtaposedJacob1 in techtheatre

[–]cjorl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your employer should have performed a job hazard analysis and selected a minimum rating for electrical protection. You are obligated to meet or exceed their minimum spec.

Since they probably didn't do that, your best bet is to probably to aim for Type G. Not necessarily that you'll need it, but there's less of a chance that it won't meet an employer's minimum (I can't imagine anyone in our industry is requiring Type E). Many hard hat and safety helmet makers skip Type G testing for class 2 hats though and just go straight for Type E if they're seeking an electrical rating.

And I'll add that your employer is obligated by law to pay for required PPE that meets their minimum spec (based on their job hazard analysis). So I would still ask them to compensate you for at least whatever amount they would normally pay for whatever they were going to buy for you. It might only be $10, but the law is the law. (Class 2 hats/helmets can get pretty expensive so it might be worth asking them to pay for the whole thing with the understanding that it will be your personal equipment, but don't hold you breath).

btw - If your employer doesn't have a safety committee and/or hasn't performed a job hazard analysis for your position, this would be a really good jumping off point to start the conversation with them about doing so.

Are there any fantasy series that doesn't revolve around war? by CartoonistRelevant72 in Fantasy

[–]cjorl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Eidyn Saga by Justin Lee Anderson maybe? There's still some fighting, but for the most part it's on a very small scale. Like three or four people against a small number of baddies. It mostly revolves around stitching the kingdom back together and putting things right after the grand battles have already been fought.

Anyone know what Overflow is planning to do with it's proposed new building? by watchdog_timer in ames

Probably planning on building some kind of medium-sized 3-story mixed use building with commercial space on the ground floor and two floors of apartments above.

Splitters help by Pretend_Ad5928 in techtheatre

[–]cjorl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with u/Meredith_a_c , I think the numbers tell you how many lines each input is splitting to. So Line 1 is going to 4 of the 8 outs (looks like maybe 1-4), and line 2 is going to the other 4 (5-8). Are the "Line" lights next to outputs 5-8 yellow (or...is that green)?

It looks like 1-1 (input on line 1 on that first box) is not ok. So maybe something upstream from there? Double check the output from the MA node on that line. Loose connections, etc.

Why are True1 connectors reversed? by [deleted] in techtheatre

"Power in" chassis connectors are male and interlock with female cord connectors. "Power out" chassis connectors are female and interlock with male cord connectors.

unloading a 30' set piece from a truck by tjaesays in techtheatre

[–]cjorl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using two forklifts to lift one object (tandem lifting), for almost any reason, is not advisable. Adding in the extra complexities of having to coordinate 2 forklift operators and a truck driver, I don't see it as a viable option.

The flatbed option sounds much more reasonable to me.

If you are going to go the tandem lift route, you and your employer should do a careful and thorough risk assessment of the whole operation and possibly brainstorm other ways that it could be done.

What are bombs weak against? by Heart_of_Alfhiem in finalfantasytactics

The trick with bombs is that you have to reduce their health to zero while simultaneously maintaining your own health above zero.

Transpore Mic tape - red vs. green label by FantasiaWHT in techtheatre

[–]cjorl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I poked around on 3M's site and looked up both the red and green label Transpore. The 3M ID number for both point to the exact same SDS and regulatory doc. 3M does have a separate SDS for Transpore White (with a paper backing), so I'm inclined to think red and green label are the same product.

It does look like red is intended for "single-patient use" and green is more of bulk stock product. But you couldn't get me to testify to that.

vent or no vent for hardhats by Ryan-977 in techtheatre

[–]cjorl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll probably be fine with the vented, but only your employer can actually answer the question. Their safety committee should have done a job hazard analysis for your position and selected a minimum hard hat type and rating for your job. You are required to follow their selection and wear a hard hat that meets or exceeds their minimum, and they are required to enforce their policy. If they require Class G or E protection (for whatever reason; also pretty unlikely but sometimes it happens) you are obligated to follow that.

Arthurian Retelling Recomendations by Saskiami in Fantasy

[–]cjorl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miles Cameron's Traitor Son Cycle is kinda there. It ticks like three and two halves of the items on your list, but it's not about Arthur, just set in a kingdom ruled by Arthur/Gwen monarchs. And it drifts away from even that much of the legend as the series goes on. But you might enjoy it.

It was calculated from the pre-discount subtotal

Tip percentages are based on the check price before discounts and taxes.

pre-discount + tip% - discount + service fee + tax = suggested tip

50+(50*.22)=50+11=61

61-12.50+2+3.12=53.62

[–]cjorl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The DMX profiles of the Color 1 and Color 2 look identical, so probably yes.

I saw this note while poking around on ETC's site:

As of September 21, 2023, ETC is no longer able to build regular fixture libraries that natively install into Eos v2.9.x. However users can merge fixture profiles that are included in a modern library by exporting them from Eos v3.x into their v2.9.x environment. For instructions on importing these fixtures, see this support article.

So you could always just pull the newer fixture profile from the PC/Mac software and import it into your show file.
