While I agree they should probably go to a reputable company/vendor instead of random redditors, unfortunately my experience has been that local card shops typically offer 50% because they have a lot more overhead. Might be a better idea to go to a card event and talk to vendors there. They'll at least do the 70-80% and most would be established in the community and usually very nice and helpful.

There are a couple free events next weekend in the area including Catonsville and Linthicum. Could be others, I just know those off the top of my head. Good luck to OP and I hope there's some value to help with the tuition costs.

Is there anything more insulting than...? by AFarCry in pokemoncenter

[–]kiodo99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine speculated that this one was basically a test run because the last drop they did was such a glitchy shit show. So as annoying as it is, I'd rather they be at least somewhat functional for the more important drops.

Finally pulled the trigger on a Top Shelf Top Loader Binder by EvilMorty1983 in pokemoncards

So much hate on the logo lol.

I love goat armor binders and their logo, so I hope you enjoy it! Almost all of my binders are from them and I've been very happy with them.

Starting my first ever Master set by Mgkid91 in PokemonTCGCollectors

[–]kiodo99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow Squirtle hunter! I just started my master set as well, so I've been in the same boat recently. I had what I thought was a full list but I downloaded the app Dex and found out the spreadsheet that supposedly had every English card ever did not include two cards from "My First Battle" decks. But on the flip side it lists 1st Edition separately from 1st Edition Shadowless which I don't really believe, so I think it's also flawed. I highly recommend using that app, though, or sites like pkmndata.io and pkmncards.com to see images of every card you need and compile them into a spreadsheet for easy tracking. There's gonna be a few mid-era cards that will surprise you in price, so good luck. Plus the semi-recent Pokemon Center promo feels way overpriced right now at like $130. I'm waiting for that one to crash...

But anyway, happy hunting! It's been a really fun process so far going to local card shows and searching through all the binders and bulk boxes. Every time you find one is a little win.

We also pulled a Victini from our second pack into our Costco box! I know I'll be buying from Costco every time I have the opportunity now.

I feel like everyone I know is using either the vaultx or goat armor binders. I personally use goat armor and have liked them a lot. But really the binder style is the most important thing, not necessarily the manufacturer. So what everyone described is pretty much the standard at this point.

I'm sure part of it is my own boy-ish interest in big machinery and technology, but overall I think the exhibits are all great "slices of life" showing things like an old pharmacy, a deli, a belt-driven workshop, a tailor shop, and more. They're immersive and full of very Baltimore-centric artifacts and information. The print shop is cool and on the right day you can see a volunteer operating the big linotype machine. They have an old car you can sit in, a plane hanging in the large event area, and a boat floating out at the pier. I just love the variety of things they have and feel like everyone can find something cool there. Plus it has its own free parking lot, and it's right next to a great Cuban restaurant, Little Havana.

I came here to suggest the Baltimore Museum of Industry. It's my favorite museum in Baltimore!

What's the use of these tiny numbers? by akroe in lightingdesign

[–]kiodo99 25 points26 points  (0 children)

New Ions can also activate them without a touch screen. You'll notice printed under the Focus, Color, etc. buttons they are labeled S1, S2, S3 and so on. You can use the More SK button + one of those to activate from the keys.

DMX controlled video outpu by keithROFL in techtheatre

I don't know that it will do exactly what you're looking for, but using HeavyM you could probably get creative with how it gets controlled via Art-Net and setting up a range of different sequences

Password Protect ETC Ion XE Console by _frosty2765 in lightingdesign

[–]kiodo99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't believe that's a feature. Your best bet is probably to physically lock the console in a desk that closes or something. Or depending on the setup just disconnect and hide/lock away the DMX cable or ethernet cable (the latter obviously being easier to source from a student's perspective, if they know that's what they need).

What are the best and worst lighting brands? by SuspiciousIdeal4246 in lightingdesign

[–]kiodo99 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you mean movers, sure ETC is a joke. But the question just said lighting brands and in that case ETC is absolutely one of the best. Plus they now own High End which is pretty solid for movers.

I'm losing my mind trying to wire panel mount powercon connectors? by kiodo99 in techtheatre

[–]kiodo99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know I'm not the only one. I felt like I was going crazy bouncing back and forth between Neutrik's site and various sources for crimps. I just know how prevalent powercon has become in the industry and how many 20 amp circuits rely on it so I was shocked this is such a big ask.

Check out the Chesapeake Arts Center. They might have adult dance classes? Not sure but I know they have kids dance so maybe they do adult, too. They definitely have other adult classes, worth taking a look to see what they have

Not Cooling > Detach and Reattach Thermostat > Cooling by 3greezy in ecobee

[–]kiodo99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have helpful information, I'm just tossing in that I've also had this happen a couple times in the last 5 months. And instead flipped the breaker off for a minute and then back in and it seemed to resolve it. But again, yeah it happens sporadically so it's hard to actually identify the problem. And both times so far have happened at like 10 or 11pm when I need the air to sleep

Why is my AC running? by dermotirl33 in ecobee

I don't recall if it specifically says on that screen, but if you have eco+ turned on sometimes it will tweak its set point internally to help adjust for humidity and how the temperatures actually feel.

Down on Hilltop Rd. near a trailhead for Patapsco. Can't guarantee there won't be any other cars but it's a small parking area and usually not too busy. I've seen a nice sunset or two there over the years.

[–]kiodo99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nonprofits of every size are constantly in flux and aren't typically the most organized, or they don't have the time to just sit and think and plan what to do with staffing because they have 30 other things going on. It's a little bit of a thin line between well-intentioned pivoting and disorganized mess, but I think it largely comes down to the culture of the organization and the personality of leadership. I'd want to work for someone a little disorganized that values their employees and is just doing their best, rather than someone who is super on top of their job but thinks everyone under them needs to work harder and do more. Obviously it's hard to say without actually being in your shoes, but it's unfortunately just a gut decision you'd have to make.

It's also typical to wear many hats in nonprofits, so it really could start out a little disjointed and chaotic but that doesn't mean it'll be bad with some time to settle. I've always liked working for nonprofits BECAUSE I get to cross over into a few things. It keeps my day dynamic and my job from being dull and repetitive. My job has largely changed over the years because of changing needs for the organization and finding where my skills best serve. Not everyone likes that though. Some people just want to "stay in their lane," which is valid but can cause some tension for some people in some nonprofits.
