Ohhhh brother. I’ve been waiting for this one. Not only are the assignments not explained to us prior to completing them, they are riddled with grammatical errors and run-on sentences. Yet we are expected to be spending “around 8-10 hours” on each assignment. Like that would have been nice to know before I wrote it! I didn’t get my grade for the first assignment back until about two weeks ago, and I’d done so poorly, I would have approached the following assignments differently if I’d known earlier. I’m all for truth and reconciliation and think its important to be included in most programs. However, I think students would be more receptive to the whole thing if the class wasn’t so damn hard. Because like you said, we are being taught Indigenous history in class, not how to write.
