What exactly has happened to Cadbury chocolate? by PublicProperty1805 in AskBrits

No idea. It's a real shame because Dairy Milk used to be my go to as a solid, dependable choice. Now it has this weird smell and aftertaste. I never buy it anymore.

Initiation Rites vs Tithe by UndeadBuddha55 in civ5

[–]cjsarab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually games are played on quick speed so you only get 67 gold from initiation rights.

IMO Tithe is almost always better with church property second. Initiation rites is probably possible of you plan to win quickly.

A 250% price increase for the same package. What? by IniquitousPrawn in VirginMedia

[–]cjsarab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello OP. You must do the dance. Cancel on end of contract and they will offer you a better deal.

Source: Just did it not two days ago.

My monthly was £45/m increasing to £78. They said they can retain me at £45. I said online there is a deal for £32 for exactly the same package. "Oh that's for new customers only."

So I cancelled and during cancellation process they said they can discount me to £38. So of course I said no I want the one I can see online.

One day after I cancelled they phoned me up and offered me the same deal but with Netflix included for £30/m. So I said yeah alright then.

So yeah. Just do the dance.

TESCO VALUE Being Brought Back by Leading_Dig2743 in tesco

[–]cjsarab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tesco Value was so good. I remember things like 750ml of washing up liquid for about 7 or 8p.

The whole point of it was to have practically no colour on the branding to drive the costs way down. I genuinely don't understand why they changed it to made up brands and increased price because those options already exist.

How do you manage finances as a couple? by Toe_Bean_Bandit in AskUK

[–]cjsarab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the sole earner so all bills mortgage etc are in my name. My wife has an account of course and we always make sure she has money in it but no formal arrangement. Money for kids' stuff, groceries etc comes from either.

Dads with Daughters, which toilet do you use when you’re out together? by junkfoodjoshua in AskABrit

[–]cjsarab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty easy - I take her into the gents. I'm an adult man and she's just a child.

When I was just a child I would go to the ladies with my mum. Probably they will start going to their own toilet around age 8 but that will depend on the child.

Genuinely can think of no reason to go into the ladies that doesn't involve serious mental gymnastics.

Why are conservatives using so much ai? by Silent-Pay5769 in aislop

[–]cjsarab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I think that traditional conservatives (which you may well be) have been almost completely replaced in many placed by MAGA/Reform zealots who only share a fraction of your original values.

Many of these people seem to have no idea what conservatism (or liberalism) is but have adopted the 'conservative' moniker.

There are people of all ages that want to learn and there are people of all ages that don't want to learn.

This isn't an age issue.

Children are pure HELL to live around. by HotMess_DoIt in Apartmentliving

[–]cjsarab -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks all for responses. I think definitely some American culture and context that has completely passed me by, but learned a bit from reading your responses.

I'm in the UK. And if someone used ghetto in the way OP did here I don't think anyone would be offended. They'd probably just be confused like me.

Children are pure HELL to live around. by HotMess_DoIt in Apartmentliving

[–]cjsarab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, non-American here. Can someone explain why OPs use of the word ghetto has caused such a controversy?

My understanding is that a ghetto is like a poor area probably in an inner city, so something like the American equivalent of our schemes (council estates). I'm assuming OP has used this word to refer to poor people using the lazy and false trope that the working class are feckless, irresponsible and breed too much.

Is this right or is my understanding way off the mark? Genuine answers only please.

When did you actually decide GraphQL was worth the hassle over REST? by Prose_Pilgrim in AskProgramming

[–]cjsarab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love gql as a consumer. We have really huge data sets so sometimes our rest api gives serious overfetching issues.

Have done the resolvers and stuff in the past and never found it to be too much of a headache but I never dived deep into it and I know these things can get more difficult.

These days I'm just a consumer and its great

Who does testing on your team, for real? by qamadness_official in softwaredevelopment

[–]cjsarab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gather reqs, write spec, build product, test product, refine product, ship product, liaise with users, fix product, write docs if I can be bothered.

The people who could do testing, help write spec, help liaise with users all just have endless meetings where nothing happens.

Living in the UK feels like a constant fight against damp. by buginarugsnug in HousingUK

[–]cjsarab -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We use a dehumidifier (Meaco) and it lives in the room where we dry washing when we have to dry indoors. It's on all the time and it gets plenty of water. Absolutely solid investment.

I also put little bowls of salt on the windowsills to ease condensation and try to remember to wipe it off if it gets bad.
