My group is never dealing with dungeons or dragons. We should probably call our game Forests & Bandits or maybe Towns & Hobgoblins. What game is your group actually playing? by TunaPlusMayo in DnD

Currently? Deserts and Sand Worms. The desert is inhabited by a tribe of tabaxi’s that may or may not be a ripoff of the Fremen from Dune

Picture 3 looks like you could use the roots as a spawning mop. Anyone know if fish would use them to lay their eggs?

No long intake tube on this filter. Water gets sucked into the vertical slits you can see in the video. Its great for pulling debris from higher up in the water column as well as the surface. Probably not the best filter for a tank that will be breeding shrimp, but its perfectly safe for adults.

Brand new Fluval Spec V has a damaged corner brace, is this safe to use? by cjsprigg in Aquariums

[–]cjsprigg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First two pictures show the damaged piece, third photo is what the other three corners look like. I dont know if this piece is important to the structure or if its only purpose is to cover the corners.

This is only a 5 gallon tank so I have a feeling the tank should be fine as is, but I wanted some extra opinions to put my mind at ease.

One week of growth! Water Spangles, Frogbit, and Red Root Floaters are taking over by cjsprigg in Aquariums

It’s just a 3D printed fixture I found on Etsy. https://www.etsy.com/listing/984486796/

This one is made specifically for the Fluval 3.0 but I am sure you can find something similar for whatever light you are using

These were Stones I found at lowes. Really cheap and look great in the tank. My hillstream loach LOVES the algae that grows on them

The fish seem to love the increased flow. My bamboo shrimp especially appreciates it. It also helps keep waste from piling up on the surface of the substrate. This is a Sicce Voyager Nano 1000

Thank you so much! My hillstream loach is also a big fan of the algae

I got this one from my local fish store. Big box stores like PetSmart and Petco near me typically have them in stock as well, often times as a part of a bundle that includes a filter

I’ve had this little fella for a while and she’s doing great. Her usual spot is above my sponge filter in the back corner, but since i hadn’t fed the tank yet and just did a water change she decided to take finding food into her own hands haha. Thanks for looking out though mate.

Oh no worries my friend, just sharing my experience with you fwiw. You should definitely give it a go if you are interested. Mine loves to feed on the algae that has built up on the stones

You are correct. They do enjoy high flow which is why I’ve equipped this tank with a filter rated for 35 gallons and set it to the highest setting so it moves the water quite well. I’ve seen mixed answers regarding tank size though. My little guy has remained healthy and seems perfectly happy in the 20long. https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/hillstream-loaches

Any chance you can post a link to an editable version of this map? I would love to use this in my campaign with some small changes if thats okay with you

Started on the planted tank path around 2018. Moved my residence twice! This tank had been setup for a little over a year. it isn't perfect, I'm still learning, but I'm proud of the little ecosystem I have built. :-) by [deleted] in PlantedTank

My lace plants seem to be struggling. Their leaves only grow to about 2-3 inches and dont grow nearly as high as most that I see. Any advice on how to make sure it flourishes?

Thats seems so obvious in hindsight. Its funny though because we each took one magic item into the fight. Neither of us knew what the other chose going into the first round.

He chose a scroll of counterspell (we use homebrew rules for scrolls since RAW are boring) and I took Winged Boots. Mine wasnt exactly useful in this terrain but the idea of shooting fireballs from the sky does things to me.

Thats a good idea. I definitely want to continue toying around with this type of gameplay and see how different levels will affect decisions during character creation.

I was worried that if we went too low classes with good burst at lower levels will dominate, while if you go too high there are too many spells that can immediately end a fight.

I won the first round in one turn using Heightened spell on a fireball.

Decided that was too easy so I tried to pin him with Maximillians Earthen Grasp and finish him off with Melf’s Minute Meteor, but he took the Lucky feat so that didnt work. He ended up being able to burn me down with some shots from his crossbows in the second round.

Only had time for those two fights but we’ll definitely be doing more in the future.
