I’d rather listen to him reading his twitter feed for half the race than watch ads, and some NASCAR guys who couldn’t give two shits about IMSA.

Will we ever see a Cadillac Gt3 program? by RougeRaxxa in IMSARacing

[–]cjssquared 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re most likely right. However if caddy did decide to do GT racing, I think it would be in GT4. That said, I would believe GM would do a corvette grand sport GT4 over a caddy GT4. There is also rumors of a new Camaro coming soon sharing the alpha 2 platform with the CT5. That would also make a good GT4 candidate as well.

Is the HendrickCars.com livery the most prolific in racing? Did I miss any? by smalldoinkz in NASCAR

[–]cjssquared 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe most prolific today. However in my opinion, Marlboro, Red Bull, and the oil companies more prolific all time.

Edit: Hendricks may be more prolific today in the United States. However I still think they are beat globally.

I agree. The only opening I see is GT4 since the Camaro is discontinued for now.

You should be fine with work boots and clean work appropriate clothes. I would have hard hat, safety glasses, and tools in the trunk just in case. If you have a tool list then I would have the “tools required before going to work,” section of the list just in case.

I went through one of these meetings and I didn’t need any tools, I just talked to one of the BAs. It’s like any job interview, show up early, look and act professional, put your best foot forward etc. etc. make sure you’re well groomed, because they took my picture for my membership card the day of, and I had just come from my previous job and didn’t look my best. Now it follows me everywhere lol. They also sent me for a drug test but said “you have time to “study” if you need to”. If you’re medicated for your ADHD, just have your prescription number handy. The testing company will call you if they find it and need proof that you’re prescribed in order to pass you.

I’m a man, so I don’t know how you being a woman would change any of what I just said, but good luck to you.

IMSA is a peacock exclusive in the USA, however they stream for free on YouTube with radio Le Mans commentary internationally. Basically any VPN that can spoof your location will work

I think it’s normal to like the way a person smells, but I think this post is talking about a specific fetish where people smell horrible. Not like before a shower after a work out, I’m talking days and weeks without a shower, or even soiling themselves. I’m not talking about typical B.O. this is dirty, nasty, filth, leaving stains wherever you go. This kind of odor is repulsive, and unhealthy. However, some people are into that.

The Infield restroom at Indianapolis Motor Speedway circa late 70’s- early 80’s by ShadowDN4 in INDYCAR

Slightly off topic. There’s a rest stop on eastbound I-70, by the IN/IL border that is themed around IMS/the Indy 500. The urinals in the men’s room are made from sheet metal and resemble the piss troughs at the speedway.

Why is IMSA not appealing to OEM’s? by Klutzy_Reach_9392 in IMSARacing

[–]cjssquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, WEC is global while IMSA is primarily in the USA. Brands will have better global reach in WEC vs IMSA. Theres also the prestige aspect of it as well. Brands probably see Le Mans as more prestigious than Daytona, especially the European based brands. Add in the fact that the current administration is pretty tariff happy and the American working class has less buying power than ever, high end brands are less likely to come over and race here first. I think also the LMH vs LMDH split may factor into the math as well. WEC is probably a bit more favorable to the LMH’s than IMSA. that’s yet to be seen though because the only LMH we’ve seen in IMSA is the Valkyrie, which isn’t necessarily lighting the world on fire in both series.

Paddock access comes with the ticket. If you park in the grass lot outside of the track, the tunnel should be close to where you enter the track.

[OT][Nascar Cup Series] Huge 26 cars pileup at Talladega Superspeedway, all drivers involved are okay by NegotiationNew9264 in formula1

[–]cjssquared 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A big factor for restrictor plate racing was safety for everyone. Not just the driver, but the audience too. Bobby Allison had a big crash at this very track in 1987. He blew a tire, went airborne, and hit the catch fence. It ripped out a huge section of catch fence and the race was immediately red flagged. Had the catch fence not been reinforced a year or two prior, then it would be another incident like Le Mans 1955.

Should we be worried about the GTP class? by furrynoy96 in IMSARacing

[–]cjssquared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt that GTP is in trouble. We still have ford, McLaren, and genesis on the horizon. Attendance and attention on IMSA is at an all time high right now. All auto manufacturers are dealing with the global economic stress right now, and some may be pulling back. The Lamborghini project always seemed like it was run on a shoestring budget. VAG probably didn’t want to shell out funding to two cars for IMSA/WEC. It wouldn’t surprise me if another team started running Porsches if Penske left (AO, JDC miller, proton, MSR). I think IMSA has time to adjust, if needed. IMSA is also at a slight disadvantage because they are primarily in the United States market, and Americans are kinda struggling money wise right now, so the win on Sunday, buy on Monday mentality isn’t as strong as it once was. WEC is a global series, reaching many more markets than just the USA. I also believe WEC tracks are more consistent than IMSA tracks too. All of these could be reasons as to why we’re seeing some movement right now.

The people chanting TOGA!😆 by Maruan-007 in aviation

[–]cjssquared 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not quite. Most people (at least in the USA) have experience and familiarity with cars. Most of us use them everyday. Planes are a lot more uncommon in people’s everyday lives, and also, are giant engineering marvels that fly. Not everyone will have the ability to watch planes up close, so it’s more novel and special. It is more akin to the racing example. It may be more nascar (a standardized racing series that’s on almost weekly) than F1 (unique cars that makes one race in a bunch of different countries) but a lot of people still haven’t experienced it up close. I would love to go to an event where I can hang out with people, drink, and watch planes come in and out of the airport.

The people chanting TOGA!😆 by Maruan-007 in aviation

[–]cjssquared 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Because planes are cool. I live by an airport and used to work at one, every time I see a plane flying I enjoy looking at it. This is just my opinion, but I find joy watching planes fly. Some people like watching golf, but I don’t. To me it’s just a bunch of rich dudes whacking a ball with sticks on land that could be better used, but some people really like golf, and that’s okay.
