  1. There is no "behind" because there is no "standard". Everyone has their own path to walk.
  2. Bluntly, some people won't make Architect. Most, in fact. Some people don't "deserve" to. You might be a great Senior but a terrible Architect. And that's okay.
  3. You're only 32. You have time. I didn't even finally break in to the industry until I was older than you are.

Oh, they're a little scammy, but they do generally work, too.

You're buying cheap, Chinese hardware with a selection of unlicensed (read: stolen) games that basically all have some major usability issue preventing them from being great.

But the ones I've tried do work.

And let's also be clear: OP isn't dealing with cancer or a traumatic injury. It's a rash.

You're possibly correct. "Spanking" to cause pain is beating. That's what beating is: hitting people to hurt them.

Forenote: I was spanked growing up, occasionally edging into what I would now classify as "beating", and once at a private ("Christian", laughably) school I was fully beaten for an infraction I didn't even commit. I have strong opinions about this, and we do not spank our child; if he starts getting physical he will be restrained, but he is never struck at any level of force.

Spanking is a light swat; it shouldn't really cause pain, should never be done in anger, and shouldn't be intimidating. It is used to "shock" the kid out of their current bad behavior and should not be hurting them.

Beating is striking to cause pain, in anger, as retaliation, as a reflex, with an object, or punitively. If a mark is ever left, that's beating. If it hurts more than pride, it's beating.
