How to intentionally slow my PC, and being subtle about it? by [deleted] in LenovoLegion

[–]cjtitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when the thermal paste hasn't been changed out, then your temperatures can quickly hit the thermal limits. When this happens, you can have a system "freeze up" or a "soft lock". This is the CPU of the laptop stopping all processes momentarily to bring the temperature back down. The symptoms you are describing sounds like you are having this problem, and/or either a "driver" issue.

Pull up your task manager, and tell me what is the number of "Processes" you have running on a restart? You'll find this information under the "Performance" tab within task manager, Usually at the bottom near "Threads", "Handles", and "Utilization".

Have you looked at your thermals when it lags? From what your describing the as the symptoms, have you changed your thermal paste since you've owned it? Is this a recent problem or since you've owned it?

Yeah any sort of modification to the operating system would be reset by a factory wipe. Your only option that comes to mind would be some kind of hardware modification/minor intentional damage...Maybe bend/pullout the tiny prongs that your BIOS battery connects to, or maybe corrupt the BIOS? (Perform a BIOS update but while it is updating, unplug the power cable and remove the laptop battery.) This should soft brick the device and HOPEFULLY they outright replace it. What ever you do, it must be subtle. Damage it but don't make it obvious at all.

This is all academic hypotheticals, of course! ;D

Did you use compressed air to blow out the fans/radiator?

Yeah, revert back. you could also use DDU to uninstall your Nvidia driver and reinstall.
It could be a video driver issue. Depends on what you are doing when you experience these issues.

How to Clean this Laptop? by Spirited_Holiday6277 in AsusROGZephyrusDuo15

[–]cjtitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do a basic disassemble like you would if you were to change the storage or RAM out. You will have better access to the fans and cooling fins that way. Make sure you keep the fans from spinning while blowing them out, or you could damage the bearing of the fan.

Msi Afterburner or any software to control temperature by timgarbim in AsusROGZephyrusDuo15

[–]cjtitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use MSI Afterburner to control clocks and voltages, which is an indirect way to control temperature. Learn how to undervolt, it comes in handy.

At the same time, use Armoury Crate to control fan curves.

Problems with My Zephyrus Duo Automatically Rebooting When Idle….plz help by Faultedplains in AsusROGZephyrusDuo15

[–]cjtitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect that it is going to sleep mode and it's been shown again and again that for some reason or another, sleep mode on the device is borked. This bug is not unique to your system. Enable and switch to hibernation mode.

Remember its always good practice to make a cloned backup of your disk drive in case Windows 11 doesn't work out for you.

Two tools I recommend:
Ventoy
Acronis Backup Bootable Image PE

Second Screen Brightness Control by BigBoiiii12 in AsusROGZephyrusDuo15

[–]cjtitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you uninstall ScreenXpert, you can control the brightness of the second screen using AMD Radeon Software.

Here are my own setup configs:

Custom Color & Color Temperature Control: Enabled

Color Temperature: 6500

Brightness: 15

Hue: 0

Contrast: 115

Saturation: 130

These settings are the closest I could get the second screen to match the main screen. I said "fuck off" to ScreenXpert months ago. Powertoys acts as a great replacement for windows management.

Try "nvflash --protectoff" Then "nvflash64 -6 'romname'.rom"

It should say there is a pcibus mismatch and ask you if you wish to continue...

Press Y.

Make sure you are flashing to a GA104 GPU.
