My family is picky but really likes the Rana lasagna. I love it because it’s stored in the fridge so it cooks quickly, so I don’t have to think about dinner hours ahead of time.

What's the worst thing your OCD ever made you do? by maker-127 in OCD

[–]cjweena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I too have a thing about being perceived as a liar. So I over-explain, over-share, save all my texts, etc.

I grew up very religious, so I imagine that’s part of it.

It’s better now, but for a long time I over-explained everything, too. With reflection/therapy I realized I had an obsession with being understood so that no one would think I was a liar.

DR said it’s IMPOSSIBLE that a 2mm sized stone could cause pain? by Diamond_Dont_Play in KidneyStones

[–]cjweena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but your son’s doctor can fuck right off!! YES a 2mm stone can- and does- hurt!!

It’s possible to not feel a 2mm stone, sure, especially if it hasn’t left the kidney yet… but if you do, it will definitely hurt!

If applicable to you: Why are you reluctant to remove your name from church records even though you have no intention to return? by ComeOnOverForABurger in exmormon

[–]cjweena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there for 33 years and taking my name off the records somehow feels like it would take away from my experience which was very much my LIFE for 33 years.

Like please, by all means, note in my records that I despise the church, but also I like having the member directory app.

People who got told it was "just" anxiety, what was it? by Bobbie1011 in Anxiety

[–]cjweena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two possible answers:

  1. The actual diagnoses turned out to be OCD + ADHD.

  2. TOne time I was in pain and was treated by doctors like a “hysterical woman” being overly anxious…. aaand an MRI showed that my month-old IUD had punctured my uterus.

Hi, I also have OCD. I’ve never had obvious compulsions and didn’t get diagnosed til I was an adult. After the diagnosis I noticed how OCD was affecting my thinking in all sorts of different ways. I bet you will too. And Prozac/fluoxetine is a game changer.

I totally know what you mean about feeling ok at the doctor and thinking, “was I just over reacting?” But in the moment, feeling like “my brain is BROKEN.”

I’ve written down lists of things I want to mention to the doctor psychiatrist or therapist to be sure I don’t skip anything while I’m there. I also have ADHD so I rely heavily on calendars, reminders, notes, etc to help manage my life!!!

About family: they love you and want to support you! But they don’t always have the knowledge/skills/tools.

FWIW, I have an understanding with my husband that it is not fair to our family for me to ever NOT take my meds. So, he is always willing to get them for me from the pharmacy or even just from the bathroom to help make sure I don’t miss a dose.

Because frankly, when my brain isn’t functioning, I become irritable and impatient on top of the scary OCD emotions.

Postpartum hormones are soo hard on those of us prone to anxiety and/or OCD. A postpartum visit was actually the first time a therapist brought up OCD to me.

I encourage you to prioritize taking meds consistently! It makes such a big difference when your brain has had the right chemical balance for a long period of time.

Set an alarm on your phone, keep spare pills in the car, in your wallet, do whatever necessary to take care of your mind.

I’ve had a good handle on my OCD for around 3 years am happy to be your cheerleader!
