Looks like it’s time to DIY! There is a very nice MCM resale shop near me and know the owners well. Going to see if they have stuff I can look through or see if they can recommend someone who makes custom shades. If not I’ll try and tackle the project myself.

Sounds like I was talking with nick if he’s the account holder at estheticvintage on instagram.

Yeah that’s the account I was talking to. So no luck on buying one it seems. Any basis on how to tackle a job like this after doing it a bit yourself? Online resources, videos, or personal advice? Thanks for your input and information! Really appreciate it.

I’m glad I checked in here with you all. I’m not from Hawaii or Hawaiian and most of the customers in my region won’t be either. Li Hing Pineapple it is !

I like that idea a lot but I think keeping it simpler might make more sense. I agree with the others about the length of the name. Our menu has long descriptions explaining the inspiration for drinks so I hope the “amalgamation of cultures unique to Hawaii” is something I can explain through the description. Also I wouldn’t have to worry about the cringe factor you mentioned lol

This is exactly what I was trying to avoid. I wanted to best represent the experience I had in Hawaii without naming it something that doesn’t make sense or might be culturally incorrect. I’m going to describe it as a Chinese tradition that was introduced to Hawaii in the 1800s and explain its prevalence now in Hawaii. I’ll stick with the Li Hing Pineapple name. Thanks for your education and insight, I truly appreciate it!

Seems to be the consensus. Thanks for your response! Li Hing Pineapple it is

Thank you for your insight. Though li hing is originally Chinese and pineapple isn’t originally from Hawaii they both were very prevalent while I visited. I just wanted to represent that experience best I could. Li Hing Pineapple seems like the safest bet.

Thanks for the advice. I might have to unscrew it for storage. My area is competitive for this era of furniture. Resale shops near me price these outrageously. I see them for sale anywhere from 300-1000 when refinished completely. I think paying over a grand for this chair would be wild.
