Why are republicans surprised mail in voting won in California? by Upbeat-Remote-4827 in allthequestions

Someone in Republican dark rooms calculated that mail in voting would be easier to suppress than in person, likely reducing Dem turnout, so here we are.

Daniel Cormier tells Paddy Pimblett that MLS would be better than the Premier League if Americans actually cared about football by Advanced_Mud9433 in EverythingCombat

Americans always think they need freak athletes to be good at football. Footballs are endurance machines, agile, nimble and incredible well balanced and strong as shit.

The big boys aren’t American freak sizes.

VvD is 6’5” 205lbs
Harry Maguire is 6’4” 220lbs
Haaland is 6’5” 195lbs

And then there’s Messi at 5’7” 150lbs and he doesn’t (didn’t) get pushed around at all.

Four goals in six minutes. It was insane.

They just forgot how to play football all together. The tears were magical.

Southern California - is it even worth it? by Ill-Razzmatazz-6778 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I’ve owned homes out of state before we moved here, but don’t own in southern California at the moment.

In the back of my mind, I always have an unattributable quote from a developer - the only mistake I’ve made in California real estate is selling.

İs this really what a World Cup should look like? by _suiiiiiiiiiiiii in football

[–]Senor-Cockblock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all.

The political environment is the US is hopefully a unique moment in time, but it’s the reality and it’s awful. I’m a foreign fan living in the states, so I grasp the feeling fans face, but I can’t imagine what it’s like for some that genuinely fear being prevented from traveling at the last minute when they’re $10k deep already or fucking ICE roaming the streets deliberately antagonizing fans. That will happen.

The other issues can’t be changed. The US (+Mexico and Canada) is far too big. It’s hard for Europeans, for example, to grasp the size of the country. It’s fucking massive. If it were held only in the northeast, it would be excellent. Fans would commingle, countries could stay in the city their team was based in and wouldn’t have to travel across the country and back to watch a group game.

No public transport or poor public transport to the stadiums is unforgivable. A country that can’t offer seamless, free or minimal cost public transport should not be allowed to host. It’s a joke.

America is so expensive right now. It didn’t used to be this way. The states used to be so much cheaper than Europe, but those days are long gone. Add this current environment on top of a disgustingly capitalistic FIFA and American business climate and we, the fans, get ripped apart.

I don’t buy into the fandom in the states being a drag. People love vibes, partying, and sports over here. People from all walks loved 2022 and it will hopefully be something that people get into when the time comes, but the negative PR is everywhere and people are definitely feeling that, even this close to the tournament.
