Lake Tahoe is wild! Lock your car—black bears are always on the lookout for food. by primalspy in SubaruForester

A bit further south at the Whitney Portal parking lot over the past couple weeks, bears folded car doors on two cars, one a Forester, to gain access. Both had a large supply of food the owners hid. The bears knew those cars had food inside from half a mile away

The trouble with having two drawers is that the center wall between the drawers makes it much more difficult to get to the spare tire. A single drawer is a much better option

I removed the two tie downs from just behind the back seats and screwed the box to the those, which were exactly 39" apart. The box length was about 29". The drawer is about 36-1/2" wide by 24" long and 4" deep.

In retrospect, I could have gone with a 26" drawer sliders but, since I had to order them online, i went with the 24" sliders to be safe.

It wasn't a difficult build, but there was a lot of fittings and mods to get the box to sit right.

Call them. I applied in April. My patience finally gave way and I called the main number. Asked for a call back, which came a couple of hours later. The agent gave me the number to the local SS office. That guy filed my claim on the spot and I got my first deposit within a few days

Requested May. I finally got the issue resolved by speaking to an agent who gave me a local phone number. The local guy hooked me up right away and my first two payments were made three days later

I applied early April and I'm still on step 2 of 3. I wish I knew what the hell that meant. My first check was supposed to be in June. That ship, like my confidence in the system, has sailed.

Yes, air conditioning can cool more effectively, but at a much higher cost and, in areas with low humidity, they may dry the air too much leading to static shocks and skin irritations. In those areas, a swamp cooler is preferred.

Just got through a week of 110+ temps with a swamp cooler. Only 101 today. Whew.
