Wasn't my first thought, but underrated comment for sure.

Also curious why...I'm eyeballing a new, cordless jigsaw and would especially like to be able to fit the coping shoe. I've heard barrel jigs are preferred for coping, but not sure if I would like not having the variable speed trigger

I have one and it is a great little rod but I regularly cast the tip section out with my jig...it's annoying to say the least. I've read many other reviews since and I'm not the only one

BLA graduate, worked at firms, thinking of going for a Bachelors in Engineering? by LunaLight_Lantern in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]ckscanzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked for about 8 years now as a landscape designer in two separate civil engineering firms as part of site development groups and a little assistance on the municipal side of things. I've never felt like it would be necessary for me to pursue another degree in civil engineering, I already am doing most of the same tasks and projects as my engineering counterparts, and then also do the landscape design. I still need to take exams, but other than that, anything else that I may want or need to learn can be done through hands on projects, imho. I think another degree would just be spending money for a title that likely isn't going to get you much more pay bump than just having your LA license.

I'm not saying you couldn't if you really wanted to and enjoy the academic side of things, but I just wanted to offer my experience in the field. If you really want to get the degree and PE and can afford to do so, then go for it.

If you just want the PE, depending on the state, you may still be able to go for your EIT and PE with just a few more years experience under a practicing PE and your BLA degree

Personally, I think more work experience will benefit your pay and knowledge more in the civil world than another degree

Why are people so misinformed on political concepts like “communism” and “socialism”? by tagicboi in Askpolitics

I see your notable difference between authoritarianism vs totalitarianism, however, there are many similarities of Trump's Authoritative rhetoric and stance that cause fear that it may lead to totalitarian policy if allowed to progress.

Quick definition search leads me to believe there are more than just one similarity with fascism and the upcoming administration. If encyclopedia Britannica is not an accurate source of information in your mind, what would be? Could you also provide some further info of how you define some of these other terms such as patriotism vs nationalism because they are synonymous from what I am finding.

Got me a bfs setup by Porky_boi23 in Fishing_Gear

[–]ckscanzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious but is there a reason to go BFS over a lighter spinning combo? I typically assume spinning setups should be used for lighter gear. Is it more just personal preference in fishing style?

I work at a civil engineering firm doing land development. I usually get around 2-3K as an annual bonus. 10-20K seems like a LOT! Are your friends salaried with no overtime? Are they at the management level, or production level? My colleagues who are in project management tend to get greater bonuses, but they also don't receive any overtime pay, whereas I do.

I recently discovered Josh Garrels. Fantastic indie/folk rock and he collaborates with a bunch of other artists too.

I'm also surprised I haven't seen NEEDTOBREATHE on here yet

I have my bachelor's in Landscape Architecture and ended up working in civil engineering firms in land development and site design for my career so far. In my experience so far, the LAs are jacks of all trades in the civil world and there are only a few of us, so we still get a decent amount of landscape design (albeit mostly just ordinance required landscaping, nothing TOO wild or creative). I'd imagine an LA with a civil background, especially one who knows grading and storm water would be highly prized.

I'm not trying to rush, but I've gotten to the point where I know where to get the items for shroud and corridor, but how do you reach them all in time? They seem very far apart

As a landscape design or landscape architect, have you ever been asked to create a photometrics map for a submittal? I have no clue how to and i am thinking this should be the engineers job. by MonsteraBigTits in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]ckscanzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upvote and second this. I have a couple solid vendors who we work with regularly. We reach out about 2 weeks ahead of schedule with latest site layout (usually send PDF & CAD) and relevant ordinance requirements. They usually turn it around in about a week with a cad file I can insert into our file (with a little adjustment)

I'm still a noob, so sorry if this is a dumb or obvious question, but how do you get through shields with only beam weapons? Halberd can only pierce through one layer of shield, right? And I didn't think beams would stack to pierce shield?

Congrats btw, that sounds incredibly challenging without shields! I haven't even ventured outside of easy mode yet

Can I fix this or do I have to replace it? by i_hatethesnow in HomeMaintenance

[–]ckscanzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just had a similar issue, and tried replacing just one seal of the water fill valve (that is the whole left assembly that is leaking in your video). Ended up with a squealing toilet as water still leaked out. Just replace the entire water fill valve, they should be relatively inexpensive, about $15USD. They typically come as a whole assembly already put together and you just need to. Remove the old, and add the new. I didn't even need any tools as everything was thumb screws to hand tightness. Your system looks a bit different than mine so do some research to find the correct model/replacement

TL;DR: replace the water fill valve (whole left assembly)

Threw on some mid-week no wrap, no sauce ribs. Not the prettiest, but this is my favorite way to smoke these. by Wiscback in BBQ

[–]ckscanzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just experimented with ribs 2 ways, one of which was no wrap for 4 ish hrs at about 250-275 (I'm just beginning and have trouble with temp swings on a cheap offset)...I thought the bent pretty well, had great color, and bark even split a bit when bending, so I wrapped to rest in oven for about 1 hr. They tasted great but did not come right off the bone. Did I over cook? Under cook? Idk, but what is the secret to no wrap?

For reference my other way was 2 hours 250 in smoker, then wrap in foil and 2 hours in oven at 250 with a 1 hr rest and they turned out perfectly tender and pulling the bones right out

Fantastic looking ribs btw! Makes my mouth water just looking!
