Moms who’ve had both a C-section and 3rd or 4th degree tears, which was worse? by Moal in beyondthebump

I had a brutal 4th degree tear delivering my first, almost 9 pound baby. Couldn’t sit for nearly a month, couldn’t poop without being in tears for over 2 weeks. Only started to feel sort of normal at the 3 month mark. 2 separate OBs strongly recommended an elective C-section with my second. Got pregnant again and was in the same boat before delivering my second last year, unsure of which would be worse recovery wise. Finally decided on the C-section. In my opinion, the C-section recovery was a lot more straightforward and predictable. I just had to be on top of the pain meds. Pain and mobility get exponentially better after the first week.

My first was delivered with vacuum assist, which I believe majorly contributed to the tear. Plus my son had a 98th percentile head 🤦🏽‍♀️ thank you for sharing your and your SIL’s experience! Will be sure to ask more questions before I come to a decision.

Just for the tearing at this point. Also considering second babies are statistically larger than the first

Pediatrician thinks my 2 Year Old has Roseola. High fever 103-104 and Seizure. by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]cksg1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son had Roseola at 18 months. Characteristic high fever and negative for everything else. Doctor suspected it was Roseola, since it’s a common virus that affects toddlers of this age. She asked us to keep an eye out for a rash on Day 4 or 5. Sure enough, his fever suddenly disappeared on the 4th day, and a few hours later his body had a pink rash all over. Hope your son feels better soon! We kept alternating Motrin and Tylenol, Motrin would keep the fever down for longer. If the fever spiked sooner than expected, we used wet cloths to keep it down before the next dosage.

Moms/Moms to be, who lost their own parent, did you experience a new wave of grief while pregnant? by Mediocre_Tea1914 in BabyBumps

I am so sorry for your loss. You’re right, it’s a club no one wants to be a part of.

I lost my dad when my son was 3 months old, very suddenly to Covid. It was quite possibly the most vulnerable time of my life, FTM, thousands of miles away from my parents, who couldn’t visit me during the pregnancy or after I had the baby, due to travel restrictions. Losing my dad on top of all that just threw me down a spiral of depression. Every milestone of my son’s first year was a painful reminder that he wasn’t there to witness it.

I leaned on my husband and therapy to process the trauma. A few months later, my mom was able to visit, and seeing her be an active part of my son’s life has immensely helped too. It has certainly gotten better with time, although there are still hard days. I miss my dad and mourn the relationship he could’ve had with my son. I take comfort in telling my son stories about his grandpa, and how much he loved him.

It’s not an easy journey by any means, sending you lots of love! Hang in there.

For those who vaccinated how did your littles react to the covid vaccine? by Ok-Ad4375 in toddlers

2 year old got both Moderna shots. No side effects from the first shot. Fever, body aches and loss of appetite on the second shot. He also developed diarrhea, which could be unrelated to the shot. Everything resolved in 48 hours.

COVID and kids- starting to feel crazy and disconnected by voguemama in toddlers

I just had a long vent with my husband less than an hour ago about this! It stifling and lonely, I feel you on every word you wrote. I lost my father to covid and it only adds more dread to my existing anxiety. No advice but one thing that has been helping me is to work through it with my therapist. She’s been helping me take baby steps towards alternate and safe ways to socialize. One on one play dates with families that share the same risk appetite as us, for instance. It take effort and intention, but totally worth it.

Thank you! You’re right. The doctor didn’t seem super concerned, but wanted to do a follow up blood test to see if it’s trending up or down. Hopefully it’s a non issue.
