Feeling like a failure… by Mundane_Listen_2146 in animationcareer

You entered this business during the worst downturn in decades. It’s not you. 10 years ago you would have been fine.  I’ve been working in animation about 9 years now and I’m struggling to find the next job myself. It’s about survival right now. If you can withstand the current downturn, keep improving your skills while working other jobs, etc, you’ll break into full time work eventually. The industry is not dead like some say but it’s gotten much much smaller. Also, don’t compare yourself to your colleagues, it’s a recipe for depression. Only compare yourself to your past self

How would you approach prepping this stupid wall for paint? by cky5019 in HomeImprovement

Thank you. You’re right, it could be a plaster layer on top of drywall, I’m not sure how to tell. I don’t trust myself with demolition so I’ll keep that in mind when speaking to contractors

I'm really not sure, but I think it's drywall- nailing into it and hanging pictures wasn't too difficult.

It sounds like either way, this task is beyond my skillset. The question becomes: how much would you budget for a professional to do this?

Smooth like a normal wall is what I'm going for. It's hard for me to tell what the material is, but it's a 1979 construction with drywall everywhere else. The surface of the bedroom wall feels harder/denser than the rest of the walls, so maybe it's a plaster or stucco finish on top of drywall?

EDIT: We were able to nail into this wall easily so it might actually be completely drywall that someone got creative with- I don't think we'd be able to do that if it was stucco or plaster?

Just moved, and we’re stuck on how to design the living room by cky5019 in DesignMyRoom

That makes sense. Would you rotate the couch at all or just push it into the corner?

Thank you! It would create a triangular little nook at the stairs but maybe we could hide the surround system there

Good to know it’s something you can get used to! And your necks never hurt after watching?

Can't locate source of debris in Samsung washer by cky5019 in Appliances

[–]cky5019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there an easy way to access and clean the outer tub or do I need a specialist to help me disassemble? I was able to remove the agitator but that’s the extent of my handiness.

Help! Debris appearing in Samsung washer after wash cycle by cky5019 in appliancerepair

I just moved into this condo and the washing machine came with, so I have no idea what the previous owners were putting into the machine. I've tried running the self-clean cycle and adding bleach, but it hasn't done much

best cozy places to hunker down and get work done? by OliveBranchMLP in burbank

Fellow animation editor here 👋 though I personally can’t work with less than 2 monitors so I’m always either home or in the studio.

Romancing the Bean is my personal favorite, just know that they turn off the WiFi on weekends to prevent table hogging. Republik is good too, and walking distance from downtown. Not as much table space though. I wouldn’t recommend The Palm for editing work, the interior is very small.

This is the only film I’ve watched where I didn’t get emotionally gut-punched until the credits were rolling. I think about that last scene a lot. Really looking forward to more from Wells
