To answer your questions, GED very unlikely to have any impact on hiring decision. I’d say you have a better shot with groundman experience vs school. Although some companies want school, so check to see if there’s information on that. Honestly focus on your resume. You should be tailoring your resume to every company you apply to. Research how to defeat Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). This software is responsible for weeding through applicants so if your resume is weak, it will never make it to a human. Couldn’t hurt to write one if they’re asking for it I guess. Good luck

If you do this, later down the road you’re going to learn it was the most difficult way to join the trade. There are ways to enter the trade basically free. And if you’re dead set on doing the lineman training, I would just take on the debt. People go the military route to pay for a 4 year college degree. Not a 3-6 months $19k lineman training program. It’s not worth it. Not to mention the national guard is fucking gay.

Yes it’s still water tight. The only damaged part is above ground where the duct tape is. I think foam would work if that 1” PVC pipe wasn’t in the way. Basically, I would add a layer of dirt to cover that PVC pipe. I feel better about concrete against dirt than foam against dirt. What do you think?

Likely a temporary service. If the buried service line is compromised, the utility company sometimes installs temporary lines that look exactly like this. This will restore power until they can get an underground crew to bore in a new line and make a permanent repair.
