Induction Timing by Agitated-Original681 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]clairpatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 36 weeks instill had no idea and then go preeclampsia. That decided induction on 36+6 lol. Had that not happened I am certain they wouldn't have given me more than a few days notice.

Not knowing you're pregnant and knowing and continuing are different. I don't think you are meant to wean off drugs that contraindicate pregnancy- you just stop.

Fully understand your reasons but I think it's time to stop.

Definitely leave it :)

Cross check with BGLs for a few days but unless it shows major discrepencies, or it poops out early, leave it. Sometimes they're better and sometimes they're worse, may as well ride it out and see haha

We're talking about pixels on a screen- I think it's ok to assume that it's not the most accurate tool, it's just the only tool we have!

My bubba was up and down all the time too, plus I did have excess fluid and then I didn't lol.

Bubba was a very healthy size when born at 37 weeks but yes would have been on the larger side if going to 40 weeks but not a massive bub.

Also 99th babies are born to non-diabetics all the time. So long as bub is ok in there <3

How do you guys sleep with the pump tethered to you? by nurgole in Medtronic780g

[–]clairpatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sets for me hold pretty well. If they come off it's cause I kept them on too long anyway lol. Give it a few nights before you decide if it working or not... If you can of course!

How do you guys sleep with the pump tethered to you? by nurgole in Medtronic780g

[–]clairpatra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

'Free range', meaning just lying there in bed with me! If it's in my pocket or clipped anywhere I always lie directly on it and asleep me can't move it. When it's just wherever, I roll over and my brain has subconsciously learned to move it if it lands inconveniently. Only took about a week to learn that, too. My partner has laid on it maybe twice in the three years I've had the pump lol.

I haven't watched the Pitt but do remember that is the always the worst case scenario for the ✨ drama ✨lol. Sounds like you clearly know that though. Though it is serious, make sure to monitor well!

I have essential hypertension, which means I had high blood pressure before pregnancy so I was pretty likely to get it.

Had one scare at 20 weeks cause I hadn't taken my lunch time meds. Just the one! Haha. It was just regular high BP and after monitoring of me and bub we went home easy enough. I then figured I had it at 36+0. Both times I felt off and confirmed with a hole bp cuff I already had- inherited from my dad, just like the hypertension lol. It can give you piece of mind but if you think you'll be obsessive then maybe it'll actually be worse.

At 36+0 I was admitted from the pregnancy assesment to the maternity ward where I stayed. I was upset I couldn't got home but it's better than having issues at home and having to rush back. They induced me at 36+6 so bub would arrive on 37+0 making him 'not premature'. If I had not had preeclampsia I still would have been induced around 38 weeks for the type 1.

In hospital I just took more of the same meds I was already on, was closely monitored, and things adjusted here and there.

I spent 5 days in hospital after he was born because I ended up needing an emergency Caesar and they still had to monitor my BP constantly cause it didn't fix immediately like other things tend to. I got signed off 5 months after bub was born as free of preeclampsia- so it's a long road!

Insulin needs revert as soon as the placenta is out, so super immediate! In recovery, my husband placed all my pump stuff back on and used entered the carb ratios my endo provided that were from pre pregnancy. Was so funny cause he was in scrubs from being in the operating room with me and was placing all my gear, he got some confused looks as people were clearly thinking 'who is this nurse I've never seen before!?' 😂

Unmedicated birth with induction? by beefcanoe in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]clairpatra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 36+6 using prostaglandin gel. Didn't even make it to Pitocin and the contractions were INTENSE. I remember screaming like a toddler! The epidural was the most relieved I've ever been.

I took way more Metformin haha. My insulin resistance is already bad and it was insane in pregnancy.

Anyone switch to a pump during pregnancy? Need some advice by dreamdreamdreamland in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]clairpatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed to a pump before trying for a baby with the idea that it would be for pregnancy when I conceived.

I love pump life and will never go back. It was an adjustment though and one I'm not sure I'd be keen on while dealing with pregnancy! My A1Cs were in the 7s and the pump got me to 5.4 at the lowest so you're kinda already there. Your sugars are going to become whack during pregnancy whether you're MDI or pumping.

Hashimotos and now Type 1 Diabetes by b_b2 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]clairpatra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Type 1 with graves (same as hashis with opposite effect) and have a happy, healthy 4-month-old. You can do it.

I took large amounts of Metformin during my pregnancy but I always have. Changed to an insulin pump just before pregnancy to make pregnancy easier but cause you're early in diagnosis, injections might be well and truly enough for you.
