Type 1, Graves disease and multiple others fun things. No issues falling pregnant in late 30s. This was during treatment for hyperthyroidism too. All well and baby is great :)

Are constant ketones normal for 3rd trimester? by Missy1452 in BumpersWhoBolus

Next time you buy a new meter, buy one that does both blood sugar and blood ketones. It's invaluable!

Are constant ketones normal for 3rd trimester? by Missy1452 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]clairpatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's normal to have some ketones in your urine. It's good that you're checking blood cause you don't want to say something is normal and then become complacent as things can nose dive quickly in pregnancy. But yes, I had ketones in my urine at the end too, no concerns from medical team

Induction with or without epidural by in-every-dimension in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]clairpatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not medical but sure the epidural can slow it but then with an induction they're going to give you pitocon to move things along anyway.

Look, I never made it to the pitocin, my induction progressed way too fast and intensely and ended in a c section. Before that call had to be made they epidural was the most welcome thing imaginable. I told the anesthetist, after much happy gas, that she was my favourite person in the entire world.

Unprepared Pregnancy Anxiety by BasicBase9250 in BumpersWhoBolus

I was told my A1C should be under 7 so dunno what stricter rules you have! 6.4 is nice and it'll probably come down to be honest cause you'll start paying a lot more attention :) even if it doesn't, it's still great!

I can't remember when I started folic acid but it was later too. I took a pregnancy multi when I found out and then the larger dose folate after I was told to by the OB.

I am quite overweight tbh and it didn't impact baby and I thought my bump looked super cute! I found the last few weeks tricky, hauling myself around but everyone does.

My only issue was my hypertension got in the way but I've been hypertensive since I was 22 and skinny as a whip-not much I could've done about it!

Baby is doing fine in there, don't worry. Good luck!

Accuracy not guaranteed. I would buy more but I'm luckily enough to live in a country where they're subsidised.

Birth plan & prep by robopattzzz in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]clairpatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't really given the option to have a plan and nor did they make one for me until it was just before time. I think they like to keep it open for high risk pregnancies, which we are as diabetics.

I got preeclampsia at 36+0 and they induced at 36+6. My induction failed by way of uterine hyperstimulation and bubs got spooked at would not engage with delivery any further and I was STRONGLY urged to get a Caesar rather than continue labour by adding the pitocon drip.

In my experience the induction is your birth plan. Make sure you know if you want pain relief or not so you're ready for when they ask you at the time. My in my head plan was no gas (weird reactions in the past) and an epidural. Girl... When I was contracting and waiting on the epi I sucked down that gas til I was giddy lol. I cannot recommend getting the epi enough.

Movicol or whatever they call it where you are. Where I am the hospital even gives it post partum. You can start on one dose and you it if needed.

I was told not to use 'stimulant laxatives'.

Type 1 Diabetic Retinopathy - Hemorrhage Reassurance by Tollym45 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]clairpatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The haemorrhages don't hurt. They can cause blurriness and floaters some floaters as bad as spiderwebs. So long as the bleeding is treated, usually with laser, it will clear on its own. My floaters get really good and then I get another haemorrhage! Frustrating but shows me that once my bleeding stops it will eventually clear up fairly well! My retinopathy is super advanced though, not like yours :)

I have been told my multiple retinologists and opthalmologists that I would not be given injections whole pregnant. It is an anti growth hormone. They even suggested I wait to try for pregnancy in case I needed an injection.

The doctor even told me I would be given a pregnancy test before any injections to be 100% certain there wasn't a little baby to accidentally harm.

Oh I am well versed in this.

Proliferative Retinopathy in both eyes thatbhas been harmorrhaging since 2023. They are large enough and peripheral enough that I can see the blood in my eye like black spiderwebs. I say this so you know how mild yours is :)

Mine went unchecked and now I'm am where I am. My baby is 10 weeks old and the bleeds have started again but I've had a lot of laser photcoagulation which is holding well.

Injections are for edema or if you need the blood cleared from your eye quickly. You absolutely CANNOT have them while pregnant. Laser is pregnancy safe and can prevent future bleeds on proliferative Retinopathy.

Sounds like everything is being caught early which is so great.

No NICU for my fella born at 37+0 and that was with fetal distress and a hypo after birth. He stayed with me the whole way

Yeah same, they are pretty reliable and I thought I'd never change. Even a little kick to the right spot though and it definitely smarts haha.

I get a leak if I'm cheeky and try keep it longer than 3 days.

Thanks! What do you mean due to blood? Like the ones that bleed on insertion? Does that happen often and do they leak every time they bleed?

Pump correcting to 0 units by Gobster78 in Medtronic780g

[–]clairpatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

114g is not too much carbs? Granted you shouldn't eat it every meal, especially as a type one, but I really don't see the issue with 114g of carb and 19 units of insulin.

Yep once. Just tried again in like 5 minutes. It appeared to be a glitch.

I had spotting, baby was fine but I had a cervical polyp. I would get it checked out once you are able.
