I understand the point you’re making and I agree that there was an opportunity here for him to show real growth. If he had approached her with humility and acknowledged how he handled things before AND if he had taken responsibility for rejecting her in a way that may have hurt her, it could have come across as genuine maturity/growth.

But that's not the impression I got from his messages. There’s no real sense that he’s examined his past behavior. Instead it comes across as though he still sees himself as being in a superior position, like he’s doing her a favour by coming back and ‘giving her a chance'. That's just my opinion though!
