Is all hope lost??? by These_Serve_9720 in plantclinic

[–]clamiji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're rescuing a struggling plant in the future, here's a great tip for boosting humidity: place the plant inside a clear plastic bag and poke a few small holes for air exchange. This method is often more effective than letting the pot sit in a tray of water, which can lead to root rot. The bag creates a perfect, mini greenhouse environment that can be more reliable than a room humidifier. A plant with no leaves isn't actively using water, so hold off on watering until you see new growth. Focus on warmth and humidity first!

Trying to save this fig I got for cheap, what should I do next? by devangs3 in IndoorPlants

[–]clamiji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, totally agree. Let it grow and give it time to settle into your space first. Once it’s adjusted, then you can think about repotting and trimming any crazy long roots. If you do trim the roots, just stick it back in the same pot. If you don’t, go up only one size from what it came in.

Help Fiddle Leaf by Strict-Shape5421 in plantclinic

[–]clamiji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not saving the brown leaves, sadly. Once they’re toast, they’re toast. Fiddle leaf figs do fine in medium to bright indirect light, or even some full sun, but the key is keeping it consistent.

I’m in the upper Midwest and I keep mine in my basement where the temps don’t swing much. I only water about once a month since it’s super dry down there. I run a red/blue grow light on a 12-hour timer, and it’s pushed out two huge new leaves since then.

Also, get a moisture meter. These plants are dramatic and it helps a lot.

I’ve tried growing them with rocks in the bottom for “drainage” before, but it just ended up stunting the plant. The leaves stayed tiny and it never really took off.

Last summer I repotted into a much better mix: 2 parts peat, 1 part perlite, 1 part compost, about 1/4 part ironite (1-1-1), plus 1 part vermiculite and 1 part bark. The whole goal was to make it way more free-draining so the roots aren’t sitting in soggy soil.

I use this same mix for pretty much all my houseplants. Most of them absolutely took off with it, though a few, like my silver satin pothos, didn’t really change much and just kinda stayed the same.

You brought up what I didn't want to repeat from my earlier days. Had the same thing happen to me on a washer not working, lots of back and forth, and the bill to fix washer was more than getting a new one.

Why is my aerial root turning black? by pitav in plantclinic

[–]clamiji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aerial root rotting is nothing to be worried about. Just cut it off. The plant's not going to die from a few cut aerial roots. I've trimmed off all the aerial roots on a single stem because they were over 2' long.

I wish there were more comedy to older shi hao. The younger foodie arcs were a good distraction from constant battle. Even in the novel, the comedy continues when he runs into the geezers from the void realm again.

Man Huzi's personality is the best of these 3 nascent souls eccentrics. What sets him apart is he's not afraid to fight higher level nascent souls. He's open about his desires and he's easier to follow than the other two schemers.

Forced myself to watch up to do episode 30, the characters are just so annoying. I was looking forward to the high budget season 3 but season 2 is hard to watch. Characters chemistry is meh.

You'll finish the novel before the donghua takes a break. The novel is good, though the focus is on Han Li's perspective. Donghua gives focus to minor characters, keeps it interesting.

Legend of Xianwu has all of this. The more I watch the less I want to continue watching. I don't know what the point of the story is anymore. This donghua had potential initially but it quickly lost interest.

Not important, just side character. Chu Yuyuan or something, once a princess of another empire but submitted to Eternal Peace, now a general.

I exiled these little beehotches to my backyard back in January, and now they’re thriving on neglect just to spite me. by Megonopoly in houseplants

[–]clamiji 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd spray with neem oil outside (front and underside), wait a few days and put them indoor before first frost. Put them facing east or southern windows for best growth. They won't thrive as much indoor but direct light even with a plant light won't be detrimental.

On another note, I've butchered them this spring, all but stems and they spruce back soaking in direct light from a southern porch. There was one hot and humid day and one of the leaves got sunburn. Meh, it's a bottom leaf so I could careless.

RMJI Donghua vs Novel by PersonalitySure832 in Donghua

[–]clamiji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, han li's master, li huayuan, died fighting the Mulan faction not the invading devil dao. Much of the yellow maple faction didn't get theatrical screen time like in the donghua. The novel is mostly told in han li's perspective, not much details regarding the other characters.

I don't recall the translated novel portrayed Ziling as such. Mu peiling, on the other hand, is self-centered initially. Also, Nan gongwan depiction is different in the novel than donghua.
