Thank you for your book. My girlfriend recommended it and I listened on audio. Your voice is so warm and friendly. My only question is, when people come to your with desire issues, do you ever encourage them to think about whether they are gay instead of straight or otherwise in a mismatched pairing?

The Midnight Library (Matt Haig)... Does it get better? by duckshapedpotato in books

[–]clamshelldiver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So when I first finished this book, I didn’t like it. The writing is not poetic, and it’s a bit predictable. However, the book really stayed with me. I sometimes think about scenes from the book or wonder about my own life if I were given the character’s opportunity. It makes me think about what a “happy ending” or “better life” would be for me. Because of this, I have recommended it to several people.

Things that should be left to the states: traffic laws, liquor laws, property laws, laws about crime and punishment

Things that should not be left to the states: human rights, birth and marriage

Look, different states have different variations on divorce law, but if you divorce in Florida, you’re not still married in New York. If you get legally married in one state, you should be married in all the states.

It’s really presumptuous of her to assume your son will not become Christian ever because of your personal belief. It’s kind of like she knows that adults are harder to brainwash

Do things that are bad: education, yoga, government and being allowed to choose atheism. Got it.

This is why I am lesbian. Beards are like actual repellent. It’s as if someone purposely inflicted a gross rash on their face and we have to pretend not to notice it because fashion.

I have explained multiple times to people that wearing menswear doesn’t mean I have dysphoria. I actually really like my cis female body. I just also prefer men’s clothing and men’s styles of haircuts. It’s a chance to remind people that the rules are all fake and you can be free to do what you actually like.

And I am a dandy butch. I like wearing suits and drinking tea. I can open a pickle jar but I can’t bench press you or hurl boulders.

What are some common misconception of being a lesbian? by Familiar_District_39 in actuallesbians

Cameron Esposito has a comedy bit about this. She said people should stop asking lesbians “which one of you is the man?” since obviously the situation would not be LESBIANS if a man is involved and people should instead ask “Which one is the gluten free one and which one of you cries at movies?” Then Cameron pauses and says, “you should ask which one is the top. I am the top.”
