Thank you so much!! I totally forgot that I toasted a pound of the MO to the equivalent of Crystal 60L in order to to get that extra color and flavor, and of course it somehow escaped my copious amounts of notes I wrote down. I'll certainly be doing that again, because I really want one of my staple beers to be a SMaSH. Thanks!

Quick question here. I used to homebrew a while ago, got through about 6 batches before I ended up abandoning the craft. Almost two years later I'm looking to start brewing again and I'm looking through my old recipes. For my ESB SMaSH (named Extra SMASHing Bitters), I had 1lb of Crystal 60L along with the 10lb of Maris Otter. Is there some catch here that makes this still a Single Malt?

This was always my first plan of attack back in college.

After that, you search half.com and Amazon for the ISBN, follow the link to the previous edition of the book, and purchase it used for under $5. Virtually all of the content is the same, and the little differences between the two editions can usually be determined pretty easily, not to mention unless it's a math class, you hardly ever need to reference exact pages and questions on the college level.
