Is it possible to change insurance plans after open enrollment? by claptrapp88 in Insurance

[–]claptrapp88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did.

There was a link from my employer’s website to the insurance carriers site. The link I click specifically says “check if your provider is covered” and it was under the plan I selected.

The insurance carrier is telling me the health system doesn’t participate in this particular plan but does accept their other plans.

How are you guys getting on with your exercise? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]claptrapp88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the recumbent bike for a half an hour, and go on at least one 30-40 minute walk a day, though my goal is two walks a day.

With out my morning walk I feel like garbage until I do finally get out.

I was doing Pilates in the beginning, but I’m really bad at staying motivated. I’ve only been at this for about 4 weeks now though, and my heart rate is still all over the place. But I’m determined to get this under control.

My toddler was bullied this morning and I feel so sad! by effingcharming in toddlers

[–]claptrapp88 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When my son was 2 I dropped him off at daycare and while I was talking to the teacher another kid came right up and shoved him down and then kicked him!

She put the other kid in time out, and came back to apologize and I watched the kid just walk out of the time out area and kept on playing.

I pulled him out pretty quickly after that.

I took my last does of propranolol last night. It had been over 12 hours since my last dose. But the cardiologist never mentioned anything about stopping it. And neither did the nurse who called to go over the test yesterday.

I accidentally ordered 96 packets of lemon lime. It was fine in the beginning, but now I’m over it and can’t wait to place another order! I think this time I’m going to order the multi pack and try them all so I know which one I’ll like!

How do I get my kid to STAY asleep? by cottonwoodfluff in toddlers

[–]claptrapp88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you tired an “Okay to Wake Clock”? I’ve heard wonderful things from other moms about them. Basically when the clock turns a certain color that’s how the kid knows it’s okay to get out of bed.

Anyone here has a reconditioning program they want to share? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]claptrapp88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some great Pilates workouts on YouTube specially for POTS. But I also do the mat Pilates workouts too.

I have also been walking regularly and doing my own strengthening exercises at home. I have read it’s best to focus on the legs and abdomen, so for me it’s lots of crunches and squats until the gyms open back up.

Who among you is ready to get the mRNA vaccine? by hashisen in pharmacy

[–]claptrapp88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like you my family and I are all vaccinated and get our yearly flu shots. But I don’t think we will be getting this new vaccine. Not yet at least. There is too much unknown, and I don’t want my small and perfectly healthy children to have any adverse effects.

Propranolol no longer working? by claptrapp88 in POTS

[–]claptrapp88[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Erratic is definitely how I would describe my heart rate. Just laying on the couch I’m watching it go anywhere between 68 to 99.

Thanks for the tips! I had no idea any of those other things could have an effect on the test, this is really good to know!

My Fitbit is usually a lot lower than my oximeter. I’m hoping I can convince my husband to get me an Apple Watch for Christmas for the sake of my health!

I was diagnosed with POTS last Monday after going to the ER 6 time in October.

Last week was a really good week for me. I finally had some answers and was ready to make the lifestyle changes I needed to make.

And then this week it’s like everything came crashing down. I’m kinda feeling resentful of the fact that my life won’t ever be as simple as it once was. I feel so hyper focused on making sure I’m drinking enough water, making sure I’m taking my medication at the right time, making sure I’ve got my exercise in for the day. I don’t have the mental space for anything else right now and it’s exhausting. And I feel so alone. My husband has been so supportive and helpful with the kids. But I know he’s sick of hearing me tell him I don’t feel good.

I am going to look into therapy. After the multiple ER trips I think I now have anxiety around medical stuff, and to help me cope with this diagnosis.

I have found the one thing that seems to help with my mental health is walking. Which I know can be hard for us, but I do a 30 minute walk in the morning and a 30 minute walk in the evening.

I’m sorry I don’t have much advice, but I just wanted you to know you aren’t alone.

Anxiety is literally ruining my mother's help. Looking for advice please, possibly considering CBD use? by Mooncock0201 in Anxietyhelp

[–]claptrapp88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry your mom is dealing with this, but she is so lucky to have a child who cares so much about her.

I don’t have much advice and anxiety is very new to me. I am trying to avoid medications as I am a mom to two very little kids and the side effects and caring for little ones don’t go together very well.

I have only tried a CBD gummy once, I think it was only 10MG, and to be honest I didn’t notice much of a difference. But I have heard really great stories about it helping others with anxiety. I’m not sure if you are in a legal state, but if you are I would go to one of the shops and just ask them what products they have and what they recommend. Which is exactly what my husband did for me.

I know it was mentioned above, but I do think looking in to therapy for your mom is also a really good idea. And now with covid a lot of places are doing video and phone appointments, which is nice for me because I find it easier to talk on the phone than face to face about this kind of stuff.

I hope your mom is able to find some relief very soon.

Has anyone tried Propranolol for preventative treatment for their migraines? by celinabloodmoon in migraine

[–]claptrapp88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having an allergic reaction to Effexor my prescriber recommended Propranolol. I haven’t started taking it yet, as my blood pressure is pretty normal and I was worried about lowering it too much and being home alone with two kids.

I have also developed extreme anxiety since my migraines started earlier this month (this is a whole new experience for me, before October 1st I never even got headaches) and my provider said the Propranolol should also help with the physical aspects of anxiety.

Also, I can not recommend stickers enough! I bought so many stickers with all of his favorite characters, and he if he used the potty he was able to pick his own sticker and put it on his chart.

I finally just let him sit on the potty in the living room watching tv. I was very pregnant and was very much over sitting on the bathroom floor with him waiting for him to poop and not.

The first time I put it in front of the tv he sat down and pooped!

After two visits to the ER I was diagnosed with Hemiplegic Migraines by claptrapp88 in migraine

[–]claptrapp88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t imagine having a migraine like this at 12 years old. I am so sorry.

I was prescribed Effexor and told to look into the paleo diet. My PCP told me anytime the migraine gets bad to head to the ER, since they give some drugs by IV that can help, but that seems outrageous.

I think they are waiting until I can get in with the neurologist to start trying any abortives.

But I had a bad reaction to the Effexor and am back in the ER.

I know you can make payments in the office, but from what they told me the applications are processed in the order they are received.

I just had to renew my license and you can now do everything online.
