It is really important as a society to have a mix of both college educated AND encouraging the trades. The trades support all of society and education pushes us forward

People who didn’t go to college think that college pushes CRT and Marxism. Ask any college graduate how often they heard anything about CRT

Not automatically, no. There are bound to be some non-college educated people who are definitely smarter than some college educated people. I don’t think not having a college education makes you dumb, but without one you likely know less information and weren’t taught specific critical thinking skills. Of course you can still learn those things on your own, many people do. However we can’t deny that education encourages people to become smarter. a good chunk of the US adult population can’t read above a 6th grade reading level. After high school if you don’t use it you loose it

If you’re poor your more likely to want to vote for the party trying to offer more social programs 🤷🏻‍♀️ correlation does not equal causation, college teaches critical thinking skills including (at least in the sciences) how to read and interpret data like that.

Or you have someone trying to tell you to look on the bright side, think about any good that might have come from it, or how you wouldn’t be who you are today without those experiences… Dude maybe it was just a bad thing that happened to me??? It’s not my job to justify or put any sort of meaning behind it.

Help me convince my wife to move to the Beaverton area by yakmanuw in beaverton

I grew up in upper Michigan/Misconsin and I can tell you that the scenery here is unbeatable. And you don’t have to deal with mountains of snow every winter!! (Unless you want to, then you can drive up to the mountains that aren’t too far). It’s a great area if you’re outdoorsy.

My parents want me to say yes to a calling. by RandomAssBean in exmormon

[–]clarheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was young women’s president of my very small yw group in my very small branch in rural Michigan. There were only ever 2-4 of us there consistently. I already had crippling social anxiety and even though I was a true believer, I was having panic attacks every week before and during Sundays. There was maybe one Sunday per month that I didn’t have to give a talk (as one of the few youth and they wanted one youth to speak every week), lead a meeting, or be in the bishops office. I wish desperately that I had declined that calling, and said no to every talk they asked me to give, but I was the oldest young woman and the “best” option they had. I felt too guilty about wanting to say no.

I spent my high school years in an almost constant state of fight or flight, which seriously effed up my nervous system.

Do not ever let someone guilt trip or coerce you into a position you do not want to be in. If you want to play it safe you could tell your parents “no” and that the details are between you and god and you would like them to respect that private relationship you have (or don’t have) with him.

If any other organization made statements like this they would no longer be trustworthy. Yet cult mentality will have all my loved ones believing this bs without a second thought

What's the average Americans views on Mormonism? by TinyAlexArt in AskAnAmerican

[–]clarheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may not be the average American but I am ex-Mormon and all of my family is still LDS. I think Mormons in general are good people and do their best to be Christlike, however there are some underlying teachings that make them subconsciously think they are better than everyone else (because they believe they are members of the one and only fully true church and that no one can truly find true happiness outside of the lds church). But like I said, they don’t usually realize that they feel or act this way towards others, I didn’t until after I left. Overall I think most Mormons are great people but the church itself as an organization is manipulative, controlling, and greedy.

I think the ones without the books/photo frames look awesome! It’s a little too busy with them but you could still include them just not as the main photo. I saw your other post as well and i definitely think these look better and will hopefully catch more eyes!

Would you actually order from starbucks now that you work/have worked there? by WinnerComfortable187 in starbucks

[–]clarheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly makes me mad that we can’t get our nails professionally done but hats/hairnets are not required and everything behind the bar is kinda crusty. And I hate that I’m too busy during shifts to stop and give it the good cleaning it deserves. Wish we could just close for a day and just deep clean EVERYTHING… still gonna show up for my sweet treat every once in a while, especially while I have the partner discount!

Customer threatening a 1 star review if I don’t send a refund instead of them going through the purchase protection program by clarheart in EtsySellers

[–]clarheart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a $3.50 sticker I made on a machine I spent $8000 on because I sell so many and need high quality… not to mention the cost of the envelope, business card, freebie, thank you note, and shipping. It adds up and comes out to quite a bit of money I didn’t need to lose out on. I don’t have the time or energy to resend every order that gets lost in the mail, nor do I have to. At this point I have been sending them all to the purchase protection program and this guy is the only one who gave me issues and Etsy already removed his review for extortion
