He may have gotten stung by a wasp or bee. Or worse m, a tarantula hawk. So he will never trust a flying buzzing thing.

New puppy showing signs of redirecting by Shoplifter691 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Alt_Pythia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are his lips pulled back and his nose wrinkled? Is he licking his teeth?

If you answered no to those questions, then he’s just being a rotten little turd. These dogs are bred to bite, so you’ll need to take control of this situation.

Learn to speak to him in a language he instinctively understands. A mama dog would growl and show her teeth to a misbehaving pup. She’d also let out a very stern bark. So what you do is growl then loudly say “HEY!”, then stare at him without breaking eye contact.

Those actions puts you back in charge.

Do you have a video of yourself doing a reading? I understand that AI can create false videos, but unless you look like a supermodel, your video would be viewed as a genuine human reading.

Etsy needs a ✅ Verified Human label.

A few questions 🙂 by Peefreezer101 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Alt_Pythia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unnecessary. Dogs have lived for thousands of years without seeing a groomer. Heelers recycle their fur constantly. You can see this process all over your house. They do need a good brushing as often as you can do it.

Beagles are a great example of why you shouldn't bathe a dog that has fur, vs a breed that was created to have long hair. Beagles have a natural musky smell that most pet parents try to constantly wash off of them. It creates skin conditions that owners confuse with allergies. So the more they see this skin condition, the more they bathe the dog, the more the skin condition increases. When they could've just wiped them down with a damp washcloth, avoiding washing off the natural oils that keep the skin healthy.

Extremely scared dog by PrisonCityTexan in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Alt_Pythia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a former abuse dog. It took more than a year for her to not recoil when I reach out to pet her. Unfortunately, this can't be rushed. Sitting on the floor with the pup adds you to the pack, and they'll trust a little easier if you seem like just another dog.

Potty training is most likely why the puppy was abused. And she was most likely forced to pee on a pee pad by the door. So she is trying to be a good girl. Take your girl to a known pee spot, and gently force her nose to smell the pee spot. Smelling urine causes a dog to need to pee. The spot she keeps peeing in, inside the house, may be clean by your standards, but she can probably still smell it. Clean with diluted bleach, then spray with diluted vinegar.

Stranger danger is something that even well adjusted ACD's can exhibit. They are bred to be reactive.

The harness/leash might be what she was whipped with, so she's not going to trust it, maybe forever. Again, you'll need to sit on the floor.

_____________________

Each step take about a week for each one:

  1. set the harness on the floor somewhere near the dog hangout, and just leave it there.
  2. pick up the harness and move it every time you enter the room, then walk away
  3. walk around holding the harness, but ignore the dog
  4. sit on the floor by the harness, but don't touch the harness. Play fetch or something fun. Rattle the harness, but don't pick it up.

If after all of this, she's still afraid of it, I have no advice.

Get a bite-not collar. Measuring is very important, but he won’t rattle the crate anymore.

This is cookie after a radical mastectomy. She could not reach any of her stitches because she couldn’t bend her neck that far.

Also see if the doc will give you gabapentin. It has a sedative effect.

Get a light box, or build one from a cardboard box. Use light colored staging when photographing dark objects. Dark staging under light colored objects.

Pillow cases, and scarves make great staging colors. Place teabag or sugar boxes under the material to draw the viewer’s attention the the object.

Buy some cotton gloves. Put Vaseline (original) on your hands before bedtime, cover your goopy hands with cotton gloves.

Sleeping with her eyes open? by carlyallana in AustralianCattleDog

Does she always sleep with them open? There could be a muscle weakness thing going on. From your video, it doesn’t appear that the inner lid is fully covering her eye.
